Dab of This and That

First of all - I want to start this post by saying I met three of the nicest ladies from the world of blogging today. Laura @ http://hiddenpromise.blogspot.com/, Susan @ http://thoughtsfromovertherainbow.blogspot.com/ , Laurie @ http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/ and I met for lunch. Well - they ate lunch, I just had "sweet tea" as it had not been long since I had eaten, as I was not sure what time I would be able to meet up with them, plus would have something to eat at my next stop. What an enjoyable visit with three of the nicest ladies and the conversation flowed like we had known each other for a long time. Actually Susan and Laura had met previously. Afterwards they all went shopping and really wished I could have joined them,, but I had already committed to doing something else. Yes, pictures were taken, but forgot to ask their permission to post a photo. I should have gone on with them, as my other plans had to be changed - oh well, maybe next time.

Got a few projects in the works ( a little black satin spray paint used), but did not get one of the finials painted this last week. Hope to finish up in next couple of days and get pictures taken to post, so you will know I do get a few things done around here. :-) Added a couple of rubons to a plain white candle a few days ago. The crown like that was not my idea - got the idea from Linda @ http://royaltouchart.blogspot.com/ - thanks Linda.

Went back and added the rhinestone.

Like I said - Dab of This and That. :-)
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

ETA: Was going to post these pictures for "Outdoor Wednesday", but not real sure how much I will be around next week - duty calls. More on that another time. What it looked like in my courtyard Thursday at 5:25PM when bad storms rolled thru. It is usually this dark around 8:30PM this time of the year. The white dots are rain drops - the way the flash made them show up.

2 or 3 minutes later -

Same line of storms that had 2 tornado touch downs. One several miles South of me and one several miles North of where I live - lots of damage. To close for comfort.

Outdoor Wednesday

When Wednesday rolls around, its time for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. These are some pictures I took at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. The vendor that had gladiolus before, had mainly sunflowers this time.

Photobucket

Aprons, ovenmitts and potholders anyone?

Photobucket

Gourd birdhouses -

Peanuts - Fried

PhotobucketAnd Peanuts - BoiledPhotobucket

A different entrance than the one I usually go in. By the time I got there some of the outside vendors had already packed up - it was HOT! Lots of people there, but most were inside.
Photobucket
I had just left a bead show - did not stay there to long as it was pretty warm in the building. Don't know if the a/c was not working properly or just so many people there. The place was packed. This is my little contribution to "Outdoor Wednesday". If you have not already, go over to see what Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer and the other participants have to share.

I uploaded the pictures at the wrong size - sorry they are not bigger.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Today's Thrifty Treasures

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Awoke to a round of thunderstorms early this morning and a heavy downpour. We needed the rain, but I could have done without the fireworks that went along with it all. I understand that quiet a few lost their power, but I was fortunate and did not.

Monday is time for "Today's Thrifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitalityblog.com/ . If you have not already, go over to visit Rhoda to see what she and the other participants have to share this week. These are the finials that I bought at HL's 90% off sale.
Photobucket
The one on the right was orig. $29.99 - bought for $3 (it went home with my daughter), and the one on the left was orig. $19.99 - bought for $2.

Photobucket
Originally $29.99 - bought for $3. This one is very heavy!
Photobucket
The one on the left in the first picture will probabley get painted black to go with one of candle holders I painted black - not sure just yet. The one in the last picture - not sure what I will do with it as have not decided what room I am going to use it in . Have you ever gotten to a point that you just come to a "stand still" in making decisions? I am at that point and it is because I have to many unfinished projects going at the same time. Of course I did not help the situation as I went to a bead show yesterday, (bought a few things) so more projects!! My daughter called yesterday and said they won't be able to come in today, because ____________!!!! Well Guess What?? It is a good thing, because I had forgotten they had planned to come. Oooops!!
Have a great week!

Thrifty Thursday

It is time for "Thrifty Thursday" hosted by Leigh @ Tales of Bloggeritaville http://lbratina.blogspot.com/. Thank you Leigh for hosting this event. Thought I would share with you a couple more of the bargains I got at HL last week. This one I thought I would be keeping and hanging in my bedroom, but ended up giving it to my daughter. Gotta love that price - was $11.99 - paid $1.20.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I don't have pigs in my decor, but I have plans for a redo on this one Was $9.99 - paid $1.00.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

So, if you have not already - go over to visit Leigh @ http://lbratina.blogspot.com/ to see what she and the other participants have to share for "Thrifty Thursday"

Remember this thrifty redo, that I was going to hang over my front door?PhotobucketWell - I waited about hanging it till I had some help due to it's weight and how high up it would be. Had planned on getting it done this last weekend, and now I'm not sure it will work. There will be very little space between the top of it and the ceiling and may not look right. Got to rethunk this.

We are having some unseasonably cooler temps for this time of the year and I am really enjoying it. We got some much needed rain yesterday and last night and everything looks so much fresher and greener today. It is 72 as I type - I am not complaining - it is just unheard of around here in July.

Off to enjoy some more of this great weather.

Outdoors Wednesday

Time again for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/.

Thank you Susan for hosting this event each week. These are some pictures I took at my Daughter's home. Like many in the area, most of her flowering plants are now spent, but she still had the day lilies and blooms on the hostas. I thought hostas did not like the hot sun for a long period of time, but her's sure do. They don't get any shade at all til around noon or after. I took this picture around 1:00 or after. She gets lots of visitors at the hummingbird feeder.

Today's Thrifty Treasure & A Ramble.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend and has managed to stay cool. First I want to say "Thanks" for all the nice compliments on the jewelry I made. No - I don't sell, but have given a lot as gifts. It is just a hobby that I have been doing for many years - more off than on. And "Thanks" for your concerns about my arm. It is much better - still sorta bad looking, but is healing ok .
I had all these big plans as to what I was going to get accomplished the last several days - Okee Dokee! I am pretty sure AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder) has set in permanently. I did get the drip pans on my stove cleaned, new liners put in, and the oven door cleaned ( or mostly) where something spattered and got baked on. Would someone please tell me how a stove gets so messy when it is not used that much! Don't get me wrong - I have done my share of cooking in my life. I was quiet good at working all day, then come home and start slinging those pots and pans.
Monday - Time for "Todays Thifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com
Did put this together a couple of days ago. No real creativity here - a broach I bought at a thrift store for a couple of dollars and put it on a gun metal chain. Bought the chain on sale at HL a while ago, so it is a "thrifty" piece of jewelry. :-) The stones appear to be acrylic or resin - just a fun piece of jewelry.
Photobucket If you have not already, go over to see what Rhoda and all the other participants have to share this week. Rhoda - Thanks for hosting this event.

Was going to get photo albums updated, but they are still in the same spot they were a few days ago . Well - I got them out - that is a start. :-)Photobucket
Hope everyone has a great week and stays cool.

Outdoor Wednesday

Time again for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ . Thank you Susan for hosting this weekly event. This time of the year when it get so hot most blooms are pretty well spent, there is one that you can count on to show its beauty - The Crape Myrtle. When out and about the last couple of weeks I would forget to take my camera most of the time - you would think I would have learned by now. I was on a mission today and remembered it and when I pulled in the parking lot, I saw these gorgeous blooms. Never mind where they were located. :-D

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And yes, I went inside . Of course, both stores! But Hey - I was good. I did not buy one single thing - Oh but I was tempted. Anyway, I had just left Kirklands, where I did spend a little as I am redoing what is on the wall behind my sofa (another post), and it was on sale.

The sky was such a pretty blue a few days ago.

This is my contribution to "Outdoor Wednesday". If you have not already go over to see what Susan and the other participants have to share.

Hope you are having a great week.

Met. Monday & Today's Thrifty Treasure

Hope everyone had a Very Happy 4th and ate lots of good food.
This week I decided to join Susan at Between naps on the porch, who is hosting Metamorphsis Monday http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.
My contribution today also falls in the catagory of "Today's Thrifty Thursday" hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/.
This is not a recent thrifty buy, but have had it for a while now. Out and about one day and came across a yardsale, and nothing really jumped out and yelled "buy me" and was about to leave when I saw this propped up on the ground. It was a light tan colored - not very pretty, but thought a little "decorators' helper" (spray paint) :-) will cure that problem. The best part - it was only $3 - aka my "Thrifty Treasure"! Last Fall I sprayed it white and was going to hang it over my front door.

Photobucket

The more I looked at it, I decided white would not look right as everything else at the end of the room is dark wood with the exception of a mirror frame (which is going to get painted black also). So again, I got some "decorators' helper" (this time black satin) and when the heat index dropped out of the triple digits it got a new coat of paint. My Metamorphosis Treasure!

Photobucket

No - I did not drop and crack it! That is the way it is made. :-) But another architecture piece I am working on DID get dropped and broken (but not by me!), but that is another story. Lets put it this way - I hope E6000 glue is as good as I have heard.

This is my little contribution to "Metamorphosis Monday" and "Today's Thrifty Treasures". If you have not already, go over to visit Susan and Rhoda to see what they and the other participants have to share.

Oh! While you are over at Susan's http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ cast your vote for her blog "Best Eye Candy".

Hope everyone has a great week!
