Dab of This and That

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend, and was able to spend a little time with some family and/or friends..

Look what I received in the mail on Thursday!! I was very fortunate to win Michael Lee West's newest book "gone with a handsomer man", when she had a giveaway recently. I have heard nothing but good reviews, and am really looking forward to reading the book. Take some time and check out her blog "Designs by Gollum", if you haven't already. She is a very talented lady.
My family get together was Friday night and ended up doing the BBQ and fixins, and added a couple of other things. I almost felt guilty not doing the traditional ham dinner this year, but they were going to have it at the in laws today, so all were happy.

Just a mumbling: A while back, Groupons had a deal for a cleaning service - 4 rooms cleaned, 1/2 price and I bought two. Knowing that since daughter and grands would be in and out a lot for the next couple of months, I could use some extra help. I intended to set up a time for this next week and will use the other one later down the road. Wellll - So far we are off to a rough start. I tried to call them last week during business hours and no answer. Tried again the next day, and it went into a recording. I left a message what the call was about, name and number and have yet to hear back. I am going to guess that they were heavily booked/busy - people getting their homes ready for Easter weekend. Anyone else had any dealings with them - good or bad?

Playing around with a picture in picasa.

Just another "Dab of This and That".
Have a great week!
Glenda

I have often thought about having someone in to help here. I've never had any dealings with Merry Maids.

Loved seeing your Easter pictures, Glenda!

I've never dealt with them either. I had a woman who use to come to my house every other week to clean when my asthma was bad. When we get caught up on bills, I may have to do it again. Oh, the dust kills me!

I love the pictures of the wild violets, one of my favorite flowers. I dig them up and plop them in china cups and use them as centerpieces often. Thanks for sharing. Richard at My Old Historic House. PS> I have to do all the cleaning as there is no budget for help.

Looks like you all had a fun time. I love your pictures, very pretty. I haven't had any dealings with them, but hopefully it's just because they're busy...not gone forever. Enjoy your day.

Awwww such cute pictures of the bebe!
Hmmmm I bet you're right Glenda and they're just booked up. But it's a very bad (and unprofessional) sign that they haven't even bothered to return your call. I won't be calling them ever if I don't hear a good follow up from you. Got my fingers crossed for ya.

Oh and please let us know what you think of the book? I'm dying to read it! Vanna

Ahh the cute little baby girl!
I think a BBQ for Easter sounds fun!
And we don't have Merry Maids around here, we're too rural.
I hope your bad storms have passed too, I feel so bad for the people you have gotten hit so hard.
And congrats on the book win, lucky you!
Hugs,
Cindy

Hi Glenda, I love going over to Designs by Gollum, and aren't you fortunate to have won a book.

Merry maids? We have nothing of the such in our rural area. I have always envied all of you who live in larger areas with access to so much more. I hope everything works out with them, keep us posted. I hope ya'll are safe from the storms. So far, so good here.

Lucky you, winning again. I am glad you had a good Easter. We did, too. I am anxious to hear how the book is. And, good luck on getting the maid service out. Keep us posted how they did. Your photos are beautiful.

Glenda, I love that picture of your grandson reaching into his sister's Easter basket, and your captions are so cute and perfect for the photos. Your flower photos are beautiful. Our town is too small to have Merry Maids, but how wonderful that you got a deal on hiring them. Now, if you can just get them to come! I think we made it through this round of storms. So glad that is over! laurie
