Just a Ramble

Papers cleaned out and shredded a few days ago, the last "fizzled out" poinsettia was disposed of, 2 different kinds of leftover candy combined in one bowl. Christmas cards put with those from last several years, nut tree on dining table replaced with bowl of faux cherries, nut tree put on steps to put in storage later, etc., etc. In other words - doing a lot of "piddling things" - avoiding taking on one of the "bigger projects". Guess I could have taken a picture of the table with the bowl of cherries and called it decorating, but the rest of the table is cluttered with papers, a necklace in progress, a lot of dust, etc. Believe me - not a very impressive sight.
Which reminds me - How long do you keep Christmas cards you received? I asked someone that a couple of years ago when I was on one of my "clean out binges", and she said she never gets rid of them. Sorta made me feel bad about wanting get rid of several years of accumulation, so they never got purged. Should not have asked her - She is a big "sentimentalist", and there is no telling what all she has kept over the years. :-D

When my children were growing up I kept a lot of their special toys, blankets, etc., and when they ventured out into the world and got their own homes established, I gave all their things to them and told them it was their decision to keep or discard - so far they have kept. Only a couple of things survived my childhood and when I went to retrieve them, I found they had been claimed by someone else.
That was the main reason I wanted to make sure my children had what had belong to them and was special to them as a child.

Talk about a Dab of This and That ramble!

Dinner is ready - I am treating my self with chicken/parmesan pizza................
See that little jar of pimentos over on the left - been wanting homemade pimento cheese lately , so will make a small batch later.
Any big plans for the weekend? Whatever your plans, have a great one!!

I have not switched to the new Dashboard. I looked at it and didn't like it. Maybe they will cut me off if I don't switch, but not yet. It looked weird to me. Hugs, Marty

Nooooo, don't get lost. I need a makeover too, simplify is a good word. I haven't had dinner yet and that pizza looks good enough to reach out and grab.
I know I should save the fronts of my Xmas cards and do something with them, but I'd probably never find them again anyway. I only save the ones with pictures on them. I have several boxes of memories from when my boys were young. Cub Scout stuff, report cards, drawings, special school stuff, etc. I'm sure I'll be storing them for years to come. Boys don't seem to care about that sort of thing like girls do.

The pizza looks wonderful Glenda.

I haven't made pimento cheese in awhile and should do that. I am going for less meat or meatless for awhile to see how I do with that. And then...one of my classmates posted a wonderful chicken recipe for the crockpot, this week. And of course, I have it cooking and it smells so good!!

I gave the girls special ornaments over Thanksgiving which included some they made in school and scouts. I am trying to give them more things, too.

Can't you switch back to the old Blogger interface? I haven't switched to the new one yet either and perhaps I won't.

I usually only keep 1-2 years of cards so I can remember to return cards to those people the following year.

Oh Glenda, I HATE the "new" blogger stuff -- but then, I hate change. I mean, I wish my kids were still in footy pajamas on Christmas morning.

Happy New Year to you and yours! I wish you all good and wonderful things in 2012, including all of those "bigger projects" being magically done without any problem at all. :-)

This year, I am packing the special ornaments that "belong" to daughter Alida, now that she is married, and sending them off to her California home when they come off our last "kids" tree here at home. Things do change, but it's OK.

EXCEPT when it's Blogger!!!
Be well!
