A touch of color: On a dark, dreary, cold, wet day recently it was nice to see a bit of color appear outside the door.
The cardinals are making their yearly visit. Some years many show up off and on for a couple of months, and some years lucky if see just a couple. So far have not see that many just yet - maybe later. First of all: Why does a smoke alarm
always start chirping during the night (when you are trying to sleep),
to tell you the battery is weak?!?
Why, Oh Why" did I keep all this "stuff" , and where does all this "paper" come from. Can you tell - I have spent way to much time recently cleaning out and shredding paper? Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week from now. Am I ready? In one word - NO!
However, at daughter's house.....
Looks like this character is making her appearance again this year.
She decided a halo orange would make a good treat while everyone slept.
Been watching the lady of the house crochet a lot, so decided to give it a try.

She grab all her pots of herbs and took them inside, and hoped the last of those planted in ground will make it until they can be harvested, and dried for future use.

Actually this looks good compared to what it is now. A cold front came thru with strong winds, and It is now knee deep in leaves and limbs. The mums are faux, as I never got around to making the yearly trip for mums and a pumpkin or two - or more. Had hoped to have some new pics of the beautiful colors of Fall to share this week, but the weather did not cooperate - lots of dreary, gloomy, soggy days recently. "They" predicted we would see some sunshine the last couple of day, but "Mom Nature" had other plans.
Daughter did send this one of an early morning sunrise.

Sitting at the computer, staring out the glass door, and what do I see? A large, thick envelope came flying over the gate. Took me a few to decide I may need to go see what that was all about. Turns out to be something sent "overnight" delivery. Sure glad it was not anything breakable.

On the road again (not me).....
For daughter and her family, it is football games on Friday nights, often times band competition on Saturdays, and after school practice, practice, practice. Is Sunday the only day of the week to relax? Maybe !! It is that time of the year when a trip to the local pumpkin patch is in order. I remember when most pumpkins available were orange - just plain ole orange. Then of course there were some "odd" looking squash and gourds. However, nothing like the variety out there now

What happens when you plant two different colors of pink, knockout roses next to each other? Daughter's knockout roses - picture taken in May.
After a hot Summer, and then the Japanese beetles did their damage, they are starting to spring back and produce a few new blooms before the cold sets in. It seems a little cross pollination took place, and here is the results.

For those who read my posts on occasion, more than likely have read about "Bill". Bill (named by the "red headed cupid") showed up at my daughter's door step on a bitter cold night last Winter, looking for a meal and a warm place to sleep, which she and her family provided for him. Even tho Bill made himself at home, and always showed up for a meal, and a safe place to sleep Glenda/MidSouthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10729065523048603563noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198407526202682368.post-64115178221125131942015-09-11T17:25:00.000-05:002015-09-16T18:30:03.870-05:00Just Another Ramble....Remember the "Little Red Headed Cupid"? She is such a big girl now - hard to believe she started PreK this year. Her Mom had a harder time dealing with the first day of school than "Red Headed Cupid". Most anyone with children knows how that goes.
She settled right in and found it was fun to learn, and play with new friends, etc.. She did learn real quick - Glenda/MidSouthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10729065523048603563noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198407526202682368.post-74133757189681881882015-08-28T19:49:00.000-05:002015-09-02T17:12:55.716-05:00A Dab of This and That Ramble....Even tho the predicted temps for the next week do not hint that Fall is just around the corner.....

there are other signs. Daughter is busy with her crochet needles and yarn, adding to her family's supply of beanies to keep their heads warm when the temps drop below "just a nip" in the air.
