Show and Tell

I can not believe I am sitting here at this computer instead of snoozing. Anyway, I just found Kelli's Blog http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ "There is no Place Like Home". Kelli is hosting "Show and Tell Friday" and thought it would be fun to join in.

My treasure to "Show and Tell" is a Steiff Bear that I found at a carport sale back many years ago. I spotted it and knew it was going home with me. Picked him up immediately and asked the price - $2 (can you believe that). He is a little worn looking and still had his metal tag in his ear. I ended up buying a doll at the same sale (will post about her another time).

As soon as I got home with my prize, I realized he was one of the older ones, as he was stuffed with straw or excelsior, as he has that crunchy sound when you squeezed him. I decided to go back to the sale and ask the people what they knew about him (left him at my house when I went back). The lady said she did not know how old it was, because someone who had it for some time had given it to her daughter when she was little. An older lady spoke and said "I told you it was probably worth something and not to sell it". I very quickly thanked her for the information and left. :-) I was told I could find out when he was made based on the symbol on the ear tag - I need to do that.

That is my first Show and Tell Friday" post and hope you enjoyed hearing about my $2 Steiff Bear. Go by and visit Kelli and see what the other participants have to show and tell about. Thanks Kelli for hosting.

Now let me see if I can link this right. :-)Good Night!
Glenda

When my husband and I were in Germany at Christmas time, there was a MASSIVE display of Steiff Teddies, some animated, in the window of a retail store. They were beautiful. You made a good buy there. Congratulations!

I LOVED your first show n tell. I have a few favorite teddy bears myself. Too bad you can't find out its age. He's a collector's item to be sure.

My Show N Tell is Disney today. Come by if you can find time. Happy Friday.

Holy cow did you get lucky! I'd put that bear under glass if I were you to keep it clean and safe from moths. What a find indeed!

Did you try googling it for information?

Hello Glenda,

What a great $2 find. I don't know much about Steiff Bears, but I can tell that particular bear was well loved by all it's owners including the current.

Have a happy day

Haha -- I picture you RUNNING from the sale, with the seller chasing you with a pitchfork trying to get the Teddy back!
He is an adorable bear, and I love that he looks well-used and well-hugged. I'll bet you can find sites devoted to Stieff bears and discover more about him.

Great bargain!

He is too precious! What a deal! Sounds like he is definitely a collector's item. Thanks for stopping by and visiting. I really did enjoy the weather today. It was a fluke that my camera actually worked to capture the beautiful sky. Usually the pictures are dark even with the flash. I have been putting away a little here and there for a new camera. Glad you had some sunshine too today :)
