Deck the Halls

Time for "Deck the Halls" hosted by Susan @ Thoughts From Over the Rainbow http://thoughtsfromovertherainbow.blogspot.com/ . Susan will be hosting this weekly event each Tuesday, beginning Dec. 1st thru Jan. 5th. Susan - Thank you for hosting this event.
As you can see on my header, I changed the center piece on my dining table. I have had this nut tree for many years. I have added a few more berries around the tree since I took the picture, and will take more photos later.
I usually have the tree up before Thanksgiving, as the children (and adults) always seen to enjoy seeing it when they come for Thanksgiving dinner. Then I usually decorate the rest of my home that same weekend . Well - the tree is up and but very little else has been done. As stated in a previous post, I pulled a muscle in my leg and can't be on my feet for long periods of time. Soooo - don't think I will be doing as much decorating this year.
Did not put as many ornaments on my tree this year . With the flash.
PhotobucketWithout the flash.PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I have yet to learn how to photograph a lit Christmas Tree and the picture turn out good. Any one have any secrets out there? When I attempted to lighten the picture it made my walls look spotted and the carpet pink - which is not the case.
Be sure to visit Susan to see what she and the other participants have to share this week. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's decorations. I will have more to share later. Hope you are having a great week.

Things Are Getting Busy Around Here

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thought I would post pictures of the last of the Fall decor I have around, because it will soon be history. Hope to get the tree up tomorrow, or Monday at the latest, since the Grands enjoy it so much when they come for Thanksgiving dinner. Then decorate for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. Tried to lighten the picture, but it made it looked bad, so just pretend it is by candlelight. :-) ETA: I just noticed something - my bag of photo albums (that need to be updated) is sitting by the trunk - pretend you don't see that. :-D

Things are going to get busy around here, so don't know how much I will posting the next couple of weeks. I made a major grocery store trip today so that is taken care, except for the fresh items which I will get on Wednesday. Will have a full house starting Tuesday evening until Friday, so house cleaning needs to be done. One of my Grands will be having her tonsils out this week - which she thinks is unfair doing it right before Thanksgiving. However, we assured her we would see that she had plenty of good things to drink and soft foods. I have done NO shopping for Christmas, so need to get started. Also need to finish some jewelry pieces for gifts, put monograms & rubons on candles to be included in small gifts, etc. etc.
Don't ask me why I scheduled to take a jewelry soldering class that is coming up soon!!!!
So - If it appears that I have disappeared - that is a short version of what I will be doing. :-)
I still plan on visiting around as much as I can to see what the rest of you are doing.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Glenda

Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/ is hosting "Holiday Cloche Party" on December 4th.

Little Treasures

Time for "Show and Tell Friday" hosted by Cindy @ http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Thanks Cindy for hosting this event again this week.
I know many of you have probably seen these old sewing baskets around before. Apparently they were very popular at one time (early 1900's). I got this one at an auction many years ago and it is in good shape - many of them did not survive. Yes - that is where I keep my needles, thread, etc. You can tell I don't sew much anymore. :) The hat stand also is very old and it was given to me by someone who got it at an auction at a very old store in Arkansas. The hat I found at Stein Mart, and I added the flower. No I don't wear it - It is a child's size. An adult size was double the price and I don't wear hats anyway. :-) I just thought the stand needed a hat! :-)

The weather is suppose to be great this weekend, so I plan on getting a good dose of Vitamin D! Have a great weekend!

Outdoor Wednesday

First I want to thank everyone that left the sweet comments on my miniature greenhouse post. After the holidays I hope to add more to it and also work on the San Franciscan doll house. That is the doll house I had to walk away from for a while, because I got frustrated trying to put the flooring in.

I am linking to "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ again this week. Thanks Susan for hosting this weekly event. My contribution this week is 3 more of the beautiful horses.

Hope you enjoyed seeing more of these beautiful horses. Be sure to visit Susan to see what she and the others have to share this week.
Rained off and on all day yesterday, and a very gray, dreary, chilly day today. Hope it warms up for the rest of the week with sunshine - I am knee deep in leaves again and need to do something about it.
Hope you are having a great week.

Miniature Greenhouse

ETA: I am also joining "Sunday Favorites" with this post since the original was posted in January. Chari at Happy to Design is hosting the weekly event http://happytodesign.blogspot.com/, so be sure and visit Chari to see what she and the others have to share this week.

I am late!! I knew there was something I was going to do last night or early this morning. Join in "Show and Tell Friday" hosted by Cindy @ http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Thanks Cindy for hosting again this week. I originally did a post on my Miniature greenhouse in January and tried to post the original post here, but it was showing all the comments made at that time. I need to go to "Blogging School" . :-) The pictures were put in photobucket before I learned how to make them bigger, so sorry they are a little on the small side.

Bought the terraium container on clearance at HL several years ago. It already had the green crackled paint on it when it was bought.

The potting bench was originally a mini drysink that I whitewashed, and the table and the door I made out of scrapes of balsa wood and whitewashed them. The handles on the door are earring backs. I made one of the plants from leaves off of a faux plant and the rest I bought here and there - where ever they were on sale.

I added the shingles on top.
Thanks for touring my miniature greenhouse. Be sure and visit Cindy to see what she and the other participants have to offer today.

Have a great weekend!

Show and Tell Friday

Another beautiful day here in the MidSouth. It is Friday and time again for "Show and Tell Friday" hosted by Cindy @ My Romantic Home" http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Thanks Cindy for hosting the fun event again this week.

This is about another one of my unintended collections. :-) Pottery pitchers. Sorry the pictures are not bigger, but I already had them in photobucket at a smaller size and did not have time to retake them .
The first one had belonged to a friend many years ago. I told him that if he ever decided to get rid of it to let me know and I would buy it from him. My birthday was not far off and he gave it to me for my birthday. I saw a picture of one just like it in either Country Living or Country Home around the same time, and it was just called "painted pottery". Also saw one like it at a flea market with a large chip and the dealer was asking $60 ! !

Photobucket
The next 2 solid blue ones I ended up with as my daughter was getting rid of some things that was passed down to her that had belonged to her Great Grandmother. I claimed these 2 blue pitchers. The one with a raised design is old, but not sure about the other one as there are no markings to go by. The blue and white with the cow design once belong to my Mother - I don't think it is old, but is a reproduction.

PhotobucketPhotobucket Now I have a collection! The brown one is old - I got it at an estate auction of a relative.

That is my contribution to "Show and Tell Friday" . Be sure and visit Cindy to see what she and the other participants have to share this week.
Have a great weekend !!

ETA: Just remembered I did a post on these pitchers back in Feb., so some of you may have already seen them.
