Favorite Projects 2010

Thought I had done my last post for 2010 - then I started poking around the "land of blogs" and found where Kathleen @ Charm Bracelet Diva is having a "Your Favorite 2010 Project Party". Soooo....I dug around for pictures of some necklaces I made in 2010.
I am also linking up with Laurie @ "Some of of My Favorite Things Saturday"

Just Another Dab of This and That

Woke up Saturday morning to a dusting of snow (first snow of the season). It looked like someone sifted powder sugar on everything! :-D It was pretty on my outdoor wreath, but by the time I had my coffee, etc., it had melted so did not get a picture.
Photographing a Christmas tree can be a real challenge to those of us who have no clue about all of the do and don'ts in photography me,me,me,, never took the time to learn the settings on their camera me,me,me, and needs to upgrade and get a "big girl" camera me, me, me..
Several days ago I spent a little time playing around with different settings, and with different lighting in the room, and came up with quiet a few different pictures of my Christmas tree. Sad thing is - I don't remember what settings match the picture !!! :(

Yes - I did cut back on decorating this year. Pretend you don't see the urn of shells still on the coffee table. Ooops!

I did not put near the amount of ornaments on my tree this year as I normally do and it really made a difference - sorta looked skimpy in places - there is always next year.

Hit the streets this morning with list in hand, and actually got a lot accomplished. One of my stops was Aldi's. I had never been there before, but went looking for some shell shaped chocolates that Pat @ Back Porch Musings mentioned in her post of 11/25/10 (sorry Pat but could not get it to link, but will try again later) . Did not find any at the store I went to, but did end up spending a bit on some other things to use on snack trays for upcoming get togethers. I have to admit, I was hesitant to buy some of the items since I was not familiar with the brands, etc. If you have shopped at Aldi's, would like to hear your info. about products and what is good and what is not.
I have learned over the years - Many of those beautiful decorated little treats are not all that tasty!
Another few stops, then on to do a major grocery shopping trip - Oh Yeah!! Think my bank account went into shock !!!!
Still have a necklace to make for a gift, a bit of wrapping left to do, and some special gifts to take care of and then will be done. How about you - Are you finished with the preparations?

I hope everyone out there in "Blogland" is enjoying the wonderful holiday season! Enjoying the company of family and friends, and all the wonderful tastes of the holidays that we indulge in only during this time of the year. And hopefully don't have to have cholesterol and/or blood sugar tests done in the next few months!!! :-D
Most importantly - Remember the reason for the season!
Have a wonderful week!!!!!

Christmas Decor in a Mosaic

Hard to believe Christmas (my favorite holiday of the year) is only a few more days away. As stated in a previous post, I did not decorate as much again this year - This is pretty much it in a nutshell.

Dab of This and That

I had not planned to participate in "Table Top Tuesday" hosted by Marty, but then thought this might qualify, even tho is is not a table.
Be sure and visit Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life to see what she and the other participants have to share this week. Thanks Marty for hosting again this week.

I am tired of Winter already! :( So....What did I do today because I had no desire to get out in below freezing temps? Would love to write that I wrapped gifts, did laundry, cleaned out freezer and all kinds of constructive things like that. However, I played on the computer and important things like that. :-D
Update: An update on the missing channels on my cable service. It turned out to be what I thought. When I turned on the TV Sunday morning, I did not check to see if I had the correct channels since I was told a tech would be out that morning to check the equipment, and remedy the problem. THEN - turned on my computer, walked away to make coffee and came back to check email, etc.., and guess what - No internet service !!! Loosing part of my cable package that I pay for is one thing. However, don't mess with my internet service !! Drank my coffee (figured I better get some caffeine in me to deal with the issue), called cable company. Well "Hallelujah" - I was connected to someone that could help! Long story short - The "person" that made the "digital migration" change on my account, changed my package in error. Then when the correction was made (sometime after I shut the computer down Saturday night), the modem was deactivated in error !!! The technician on the phone saw what had happened and reset the modem, and said the error was made when "they" corrected my account. Was that the end? Nope - A tech still showed up shortly afterward getting off the phone, as "they" did not notify him that the problem had been taken care of. When I told him step by step what happened, he said the same thing. Somebody messed up!

THANKS: Thanks for all the nice comments on my cloches. I still have not changed out my 2 large ones - they may not get done by Christmas. Oh well! They will be ready for Spring and Summer months.
WELCOME: Also, welcome to the new readers who have joined in. I saw this morning that there are 200 people reading along now - Wow !! I feel honored! When I started this blog a smidgen over 2 years ago, I had no idea anyone would be interested in anything I had to say or do. I plan to have a "giveaway" to celebrate in the near future - already have something in mind.

Off to check the mailbox - I need to be able to say I did something constructive today. :-D
Have a great week and stay warm!

Cloche Party

It is time for Marty's "Christmas Cloche Party".
I have to admit, I have really slacked in decorating for Christmas this year. Yes, the tree is up and decorated (trying to get a decent picture), and decorated a few other areas around, but not as much as I use to do. Last year I really cut back as I was dealing with a leg and back issue, and when it came time to decorate this year I decided to not do as much again.
I already had the cross hanging on this cloche, so decided to leave it as is during the holidays.
My wire cloche with a bird on top got a bit of holiday cheer. I love this cloche - I won it in a giveaway from Laurie this last Summer. Thank you again Laurie. :)

Not a cloche, but is my centerpiece for now - red light bulbs in a candy dish.
Photobucket
I took this picture when I still had my Fall decor out, but decided to use it anyway. I was going thru/sorting some of my minis when I ran across this one. Yep! A miniature cloche/cheese dome.

Compared to a quarter.
My 2 large cloches still have Spring/Summer decor in them. Maybe after seeing everyone's beautiful creations, I will get motivated and change them out for the Winter months.
Thanks Marty @ http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com .
Thanks Laurie @ "A Few of My Favorite Things Saturday"

Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season and staying warm !

It is Cold Out There!

It is NOT warm here !! "They" said the high today was 39 - felt colder, and low tonight 22 !?!?! :(
The thought of getting out in the cold to shop for Christmas makes me cringe ! So What did I do instead? Stayed in, made a pot of soup, played on the computer, and other important things like that. :D

Cards have been addressed and mailed - Yay! I really like the cards I sent out this year . They had a nice greeting inside, then I added my own note/message. Yes - That is GLITTER on the front and I now have glitter all over my table, place mats, etc., etc.. Is it not amazing how a "Little Glitter Goes a Long Way" ! ! ! I bet the post office workers sparkle this time of the year !!!!
Not only do I like the cards, but I got them last year at an after holiday sale - half price $4.50 a box. Makes me happy !

Hope the weather is a little more friendly in your spot of the world, but from what I have seen on the news many are already dealing with snow and ice.
Stay warm!

Mosaic Monday

I have not participated in "Mosaic Monday" in a while, so went thru my pictures to see what I could come up with. Some of you may remember, last year I posted pictures I took of some gingerbread houses made by the culinary staff where I attended a holiday event. Took some of the photos and ................
