I Blog Because.....

Because every post needs a picture.........
One of Granddaughter's B.Day cakes (No - I did not make it).:)
I was told the black icing tasted like chocolate - I did not try it myself - just something about black food! :D

A while back I started a post about why I blog and what I have gained in doing so - ended up hitting the "delete" button. I also had started a post about "the other side" of blogging that I have seen and was afraid what I was trying to say might be misinterpreted - again I clicked "delete".
One of our fellow bloggers Sue @ " I Need Mom" , did a post not long ago on "Why Do You Blog" and it was interesting reading the comments. Instead of writing a book in her comment section and her kicking me out, I decided to post on this also. Started this post in August and just now finishing it up. Slow - I know !

I started reading blogs a long time ago (years ago) - don't remember exactly when. I was trying to remember recently the first one I read, how I found it and when, but can't remember. Age does that you know! I took the plunge November 2008, and started on my own personal journey. Had no clue what I was doing and still don't. I originally started blogging because of my 2 main hobbies - Repurposing vintage/old jewelry and 1/12 scale miniatures & doll houses. Also small "redo" projects around my home. I enjoy communicating with people with the same interests. I don't watch a lot of television (especially daytime TV), can't read for long periods of time as I get sleepy (don't want to sleep my life away), and I am not one to just "do nothing". Also, most everyone I know still works, and I needed something to do to "keep me out of trouble and off the streets". :-D
As time went by, I found that I have steered away from some of the original reasons and have a tendency to ramble and post about a little bit of everything.
Things going on that I do not post about.
Bottom line?!?! Things change ! Good thing I named my blog "Dab of This and That" ! :-D

Now - I need to get off this computer, vacuum up the hickory nut shells that got tracked in last weekend, clean out leftovers from the family get together on Sunday, and dust. Won't tell you the last time that was done.

That is my story and I am sticking to it !

How about you - Why do you blog ? I would love to hear some more of your stories.

Hope you are having a great week!
Glenda

Good question...recently I've lost interest in blogging for some reason...I do hope I get it back because I enjoyed meeting so many great people.

Hi Glenda! I basically use blogging to archive my photos. It is also sort of a diary to me, somewhere I can write about my day to day activities about my family, home and travels. At first, I did not think I would have enough to blog about but it turns out that I have more than enough to share and write about that sometimes, I don't get to share everything I want to because there isn't enough day of the week. I guess that means that I have a life, lol.....Christine

i first started to blog so that my family and friends could see the gardens that i tend and the paintings i was working on......alas, my family does not follow me... and now i focus more on my photography skills, decorating and painting. I have found alot of support in the blogging community, which was a lovely surprise.

Black frosting seems like it would stain your teeth? I would eat it anyhow! LOL!
I blog as a sort of diary. I also like to get input from fellow bloggers about my decorating. In addition, I like to use the interwebs to help people and shelter animals come together. If I can find one critter a home it's worth it!

Hey Glenda,
I want to see birthday pics too!
Can't believe they are one already!
I started blogging because I followed others over from HGTV Rate my Space. I first found Christine, Chari, Susan, Laurie and others over there.
Well it got mean over there and some started blogs and then I followed suit. So glad I did, I have met so many wonderful gals this way. It's an enriching experience!
Hugs,
Cindy
Hope this made some sense! lol!

I started blogging to share my vintage jewelry journey, and now it's blossomed into so much more, including home decor, etc. Congrats on your blog, so glad you started blogging!

I started blogging a few months after Kim at Daisy Cottage started. We were on the same decorating forum along with Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. I had not even heard of a blog until Kim started in September 2006. I decided to take the plunge in March 2007 and the rest, as they say, is history.

I get bored now and then and think I will quit, but about that time I think of something to blog about.

My approach to a subject is sort of like trying to remember a name and can't. I relax and the name comes to me. I just relax and forget about it then voila, a subject!

I don't know how long I will keep going but it sure is a great hobby for a senior. Keeps my mind active and I love that!

Hi darling, what a wonderful post! I may have to borrow it at some point, love reading why others blog. I started blogging on a whim, Mr. P was still working then away from home weeks on end, I needed something to feel the evening hours up. Now I do it to archive what I love, how I'm decorating, always trying to keep things on a positive note on the blog while living in a state of a daily roller coaster ride of ups and downs... loved the cake!!! hugs ~lynne~

At first I blogged to promote My Old Historic House. Then I started making blog friends. I blog now for more friends. Of course one of the main reasons is for comments. Love comments. Can't get enough. meeting new people, seeing new things, traveling along with and the list could go on and on. Thanks for the thoughts. Richard

This is problem the lamest reason you'll ever lay your ears on but this Ozark Farm Chick blogs 'cause her DIL, The Latin Lovin' Hillbilly too it upon herself to set up a blog and post some of my emails to her. 'Said they were too good not to share.

I blog now because of all the friendships I have made and the lives I can touch. I never dreamed what an outreach this world could be.

Now ya know! :o)

Have a marvelously blessed day sweetie!

I would never kick you out! I pretty much covered why I blog in my own post although I still find it hard to explain. I think that I actually like the writing, photos and putting together the posts. I also love the connection with other people I would never have met otherwise. Lately, I find I have trouble keeping up...but I just keep at it! I'm just glad you are here!

The cake is darling!

I started blogging because I wanted to make comments on some of the design blogs I happened upon and read, and I continued blogging because I enjoy visiting people from all over the world and all walks of life.

Glenda, The face of blogging has changed over the past few years, don't you think? I began just to chronicle some of my thoughts and to share some decorating ideas. It was not as much of a popularity competition 3 years ago, IMHO. I love seeing the inspiration of others and reading what people are up to in their daily lives. I'm kinda at a stalemate right now- a bit bored about posting but still enjoying visiting others. Not enough time in the day to keep up! LOL I value the blogging friendships I've made, as well. Meeting people in person has led to some wonderful experiences, too! :-) Sue

I also came to blogging via Rate My Space. All my friends had bailed over there for blogs...Chari...Gloria...Lynne...and an interesting person by the name of Gollum, as well as a host of others. I joined for awhile but quit fairly quickly...Then I missed all the wonderful people I'd met and came back. I don't know what I'm going to post from week to week. It's all a crap shoot...but so far so good! *winks* And I'm so happy you decided to blog Glenda so I could "neet" you. Vanna

It sounds like we got into blogging about the same time. I think the blogging world has increased by a gazillion since then.

The positive - I love the people I have met on this route. The negative - I don't like the amount of time I'm spending on the computer, i.e., the more we blog the more blogs we visit.

I'll take some of those hickory nuts :) I love them.

Oh my goodness....a million and one reasons. I only wish I had time to post more often. You know how it is with so many other irons in the fire. I keep jumping from one thing to another and sometimes nothing gets done. Maybe some day I'll be able to get myself into a regular schedule. I really enjoy all the wonderful people I've met and seeing what friends in other parts of the country and the world are creating.
