Destructive Little Creatures..

Oh! These furry little creatures look so innocent - NOT!
Click on pics to enlarge.
A young chipmonk  (not as large as the ones that usually visit).  May be cute.....
However, these characters, along with some of their other friends have really played havoc on my pots of annuals this year.  Caught the squirrel munching on  petunia plants of all things. Out and about, and came home to this mess.
Will probably put what is left of these plants in one pot, hang it and hope for the best.
Then there is the chipmonk digging up a pot of marigolds.   It does not seem to be eating any of it,  just digs the plants up. Not sure which is responsible for the begonias dug up, but pretty sure the squirrel and its buddies, as have had problems with them digging them up and/or eating then in previous years.  Usually the eating issue is when it is very hot and has not rained in a while. Hummm...Not sure what is going on.

Typing away on this post and glanced up and what did I see ?!? Caught in the act !!!!!
Sorry about the quality of pic, but tried to make adjustments for taking it thru a door screen as I knew the second I opened the door it would take off, and it did.
Left behind a mess.......

Have tried the hot pepper  in the past, but it did not seem to bother them. Anyone have a solution?

Shame on them for messing with your flowers. I wish I knew of something that could help, but we've never had a problem with them in our yard.

That's terrible to go to all of that work and then those little critters ruin it so fast. Don't have any suggestions tho. We have lots of squirrels and rabbits but so far, they haven't bothered anything,

How can something so cute create such a mess!!!!

Hope you get to enjoy your plants in peace very soon.

That's awful! I'm not a fan of chipmunks or squirrels and wish people would stop feeding them. Chipmunks are the worst with their tunnels. Nope I don't have any suggestions. They do have a granular mix that you can sprinkle around your patio that's suppose to keep them away. We tried it for the rabbits and it seemed to work only you have to re-apply after it rains. So for us it's a pain but maybe you could try that.

So sorry, we have the same thing happen sometimes.. I am not sure why. Maybe there is something in the soil they like to did for? Your flowers and plants are pretty. Have a happy week!

I love these little critters, even though they have just dug up my sprouting squash and dahlias!

We don't have them down here in Australia, but I can understand your frustration. They do look cute though.

I know how destructive they both can be! I could happily live without either of them in my yard.

Other than getting you a Big cat I know of nothing. Oh, it has to be a cat that hates squirrels. Wouldn't be too cute to find the cat helping the squirrels and chipmunks dig away.

I think your chipmunks are like our possums only cute to those of us from other countries, it's not such fun when your plants are eaten! We have a large plastic owl with marble shiny eyes but it doesn't make any difference, nor the dog barking at them..
Hope you find something that works!
