Thank you Susan for hosting this event each week. These are some pictures I took at my Daughter's home. Like many in the area, most of her flowering plants are now spent, but she still had the day lilies and blooms on the hostas. I thought hostas did not like the hot sun for a long period of time, but her's sure do. They don't get any shade at all til around noon or after. I took this picture around 1:00 or after. She gets lots of visitors at the hummingbird feeder.

Loved the pics. However the one with the man leaves something to be desired. LOL
Hi, Glenda! I wouldn't do that job either. I had men in my yard doing this and in the neighbor's yard doing it for them, and I couldn't wait to see him down out of the trees and gone! LOL! Fortunately, all went well.
Loved the last of the flowers, and my hostas are definitely shade lovers. That's amazing that hers take so much sun.

Glenda.. Her lilies and hostas look great.. mine aren't fairing so well in this heat and lack of rain.. Love that wind chime.. I bet it is pretty twirling in the wind.

Nice pics of your daughter's summer bloomers. You're right about hostas not liking too much hot sun. I think, in general, they can handle morning sun much better than the (even) hotter mid-late afternoon sun. I've had some with leaves that turn dark and shrivel as the summer really heats up. I noticed there was fresh growth underneath and gave the plants a "haircut." They looked smaller, but so much healthier. I seem to remember them looking better for quite some time after that.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on the farmers' market post. I've also heard that old order Amish people don't want to pose for photographs. I'm not sure that's what she was (maybe conservative Mennonite), but I did wait until she (as well as anyone else in camera range) was looking away when I was taking pics. I didn't want to embarrass anyone. I was attempting to capture a feeling of what it was like being there that day. I hope I succeeded to some degree.

I love those daylilies ~ such a pretty shade of orange. Mine are still blooming, as well as my herbs and hostas. Hostas with lighter green to yellow leaves are known to take the sun better than the darker leafed cultivars. :-)

I love that wind chime! The one advantage to living up North are the summers. We've had about 80 degrees and low humidity almost every day for the last 2 weeks! My flowers are a loving it! The deer do like my flowers too, but they prefer apples! Thanks for stopping by, Cindy

I couldn't see the Hostas very well. Tried clicking for enlargement but got photobucket instead. Daylillies seem to tolerate heat and drought well.

The glads in your vase are so fabulous. That was all I wanted to decorate with at my small wedding reception many years ago. Just glads. The lime green ones are so nice.
I think hostas are so popular because they can take almost any kind of weather. I think sometimes they brown up in too much sun but it doesn't kill them even then.
