Today's Thrifty Treasure & A Ramble.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend and has managed to stay cool. First I want to say "Thanks" for all the nice compliments on the jewelry I made. No - I don't sell, but have given a lot as gifts. It is just a hobby that I have been doing for many years - more off than on. And "Thanks" for your concerns about my arm. It is much better - still sorta bad looking, but is healing ok .
I had all these big plans as to what I was going to get accomplished the last several days - Okee Dokee! I am pretty sure AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder) has set in permanently. I did get the drip pans on my stove cleaned, new liners put in, and the oven door cleaned ( or mostly) where something spattered and got baked on. Would someone please tell me how a stove gets so messy when it is not used that much! Don't get me wrong - I have done my share of cooking in my life. I was quiet good at working all day, then come home and start slinging those pots and pans.
Monday - Time for "Todays Thifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com
Did put this together a couple of days ago. No real creativity here - a broach I bought at a thrift store for a couple of dollars and put it on a gun metal chain. Bought the chain on sale at HL a while ago, so it is a "thrifty" piece of jewelry. :-) The stones appear to be acrylic or resin - just a fun piece of jewelry.
Photobucket If you have not already, go over to see what Rhoda and all the other participants have to share this week. Rhoda - Thanks for hosting this event.

Was going to get photo albums updated, but they are still in the same spot they were a few days ago . Well - I got them out - that is a start. :-)Photobucket
Hope everyone has a great week and stays cool.

The pendant is pretty, Glenda.

I've been trying to get around to organizing albums a long time! I have a friend who is so organized she keeps hers up to date and adds captions etc.

Hi Glenda - You Pest, LOL !
Here is what I do when I paint:
1.Clean piece with warm wet cloth, let dry
2.Scuff/lightly sand
3.Wipe off sanding with cloth
4.paint in very light coats - wipe up runs right away or go over them with the roller.
5.I used a small roller brush called Roller Foam- ultra smooth high density foam by Quali Tech- I got it from Home Depot and love it.
5.Latex paint - high gloss - if you want black - just tell the person at the paint store just that- not need to find a black. If you do white I use Behr - Cottage White- I just found out that is the color everyone is using and I didn't even ask.
6.For small pieces with intrique details , I use glossy black spray paint from Wal-mart - a buck a can !
Hope this helps :o)

Thanks for the kind comment you left for my first attempt at a "Christmas in July" tablescape.

Feel better ....

Hi,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the color in the broach. I, too, want to take up jewelry making as a hobby but time does not really allow me to get a good start at it.

Also, one of the reasons I started my blog is that I am so hoplessly behind in my scrapbooks. At least this way I get to write about what the kids are doing instead of waiting for years from now when I have the time to work on the albums.

Have a great week.

Hi Glenda!
Thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately Walgreens is not going to be carrying this rinse anymore. It is being Discontinued. I am checking many more Walgreens out here. Each store only had 3 bottles and when they are gone they will get no more in. Walgreen's will no longer be a distributer. I found 3more bottles last night through a friend here in Phoenix, she checked her Walgreens and found three bottles, and my goal this week is to find 12 to put in a box and mail to her. Amy can go through a 16 ounce bottle fairly fast with all of the pain she has. This is the only thing that helps. Beautiful piece of jewelry. Love it. Country Hugs, Sherry

I always start out with all these plans. Then something inevitably happens. A neighbor drops by, etc. And all that goes out the window. Before you know it, it's time for supper. By then I'm pooped!
