Hope everyone had a Very Happy 4th and ate lots of good food.
This week I decided to join Susan at Between naps on the porch, who is hosting Metamorphsis Monday http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.
My contribution today also falls in the catagory of "Today's Thrifty Thursday" hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/.
This is not a recent thrifty buy, but have had it for a while now. Out and about one day and came across a yardsale, and nothing really jumped out and yelled "buy me" and was about to leave when I saw this propped up on the ground. It was a light tan colored - not very pretty, but thought a little "decorators' helper" (spray paint) :-) will cure that problem. The best part - it was only $3 - aka my "Thrifty Treasure"! Last Fall I sprayed it white and was going to hang it over my front door.
The more I looked at it, I decided white would not look right as everything else at the end of the room is dark wood with the exception of a mirror frame (which is going to get painted black also). So again, I got some "decorators' helper" (this time black satin) and when the heat index dropped out of the triple digits it got a new coat of paint. My Metamorphosis Treasure!
No - I did not drop and crack it! That is the way it is made. :-) But another architecture piece I am working on DID get dropped and broken (but not by me!), but that is another story. Lets put it this way - I hope E6000 glue is as good as I have heard.
This is my little contribution to "Metamorphosis Monday" and "Today's Thrifty Treasures". If you have not already, go over to visit Susan and Rhoda to see what they and the other participants have to share.
Oh! While you are over at Susan's http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ cast your vote for her blog "Best Eye Candy".
Hope everyone has a great week!
Glenda

Once again it is black paint to the rescue. I am just going to buy some and carry it around in a holster ready at a moments notice.

Wow, that's a really nice piece, and it looks great either color! I can't tell if its concrete or resin, but it sure looks like an old concrete architectural piece. Love it!

I love your decorator’s helper! Changing over your new find to black really made it pop and brought it a new life. You will be able to use it so many different ways!

What a gorgeous piece! Looks great in white or black! I'd love to find a couple architectural pieces like this but never once have I ever run across anything this pretty or affordable.
It's gorgeous in black Glenda! :)
Wonderful find, Glenda! And for $3??? Amazing!
Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog. Hope your week goes well!

You made the right choice. Black looks better on this piece. Have a fabulous week!
I love architectual pieces! My best piece I got from dumpster diving when we were staying in an apt waiting for our home to be ready over in South Florida years ago. I Have painted it many times.
Yours is very nice.
Yes, it does look better in black. The paint brings out all the great detail on the piece.

Love that architectural piece - so very interesting. Now you'll have to show it in place! Linda
Your piece looks great! Try Gorilla Glue. It has mended the "beyond repair" for me.
Have a great week.

Glenda, this is gorgeous! You have such a touch. By the way, I passed on a reading award to you which you have to retrieve from my previous post when my modem was dying (now have the new one installed). I was too busy blogging about our area serial killer today! Scary stuff.

Love that makeover! :) I wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog yesterday.
Glenda, the black really packs a punch! It looks like a heavy wrought iron piece now. Great job!
It looks great both ways but I prefer the black as well! That will look great over a door!

Love your architectural piece. Looks great painted black.
Yours is the second blog today where this glue was mentioned. I'm going to have to look out for it and try it sometime.
Hi Glenda,
Loved it in the white, like it even better in the black!
Now I am wondering what broke, and did the glue work?
Cass
Lovely treasure you found. Isn't it fun hunting? Thank you for stopping in on our blog.
Have a great week!

Love that great architectural piece. Isn't spray paint one of the best inventions EVER? I have way too many things waiting to be painted, but our heat index is up in the triple digits too. YUCKY! It's hard to leave my nice cool house when it's so sticky sweaty outside!
~Amanda
Oh, wow! This is sooo cute! Love it!
Hi again, Glenda. Thank you for the thoughtful comment on my "Delta Dawn" post. If walls could talk indeed!!! ;)

Great job! Spray paint is a marvelous thing!
Glenda...this really looks "old world" painted black...really like it that color! I haven't heard of E6000...I'll have to look for it at Home Depot...'cause I'm a klutz! :-) Susan
