Dab of This and That & Met. Monday

Can't say that I have been doing much of anything constructive and certainly not anything creative lately. Other things in life have gotten in the way, but that is OK. A few things I have done the last couple of days and are not in the category of being "blog worthy", but done are: Papers shredded, junk drawer cleaned out, general housekeeping (needs major), car serviced (but not washed - line to long), finding every excuse to be outside (warmer temps), grocery shopping, etc., etc., and most important 2 of my grands were here for a visit. Had not seen them in a while, so we had a great visit. Ate pizza, and they had a cup cakes for dessert . I know - Spoil them, give them treats, send them home on a sugar high!! :-D

TIME FOR METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY hosted by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ . Thanks Susan for again hosting this fun event. One thing I have accomplished that I have wanted to do for a while now, and that is to pack up some china that never gets used. It was in the bottom of a cabinet taking up space that I wanted to use for other things. Seven piece place settings for twelve (12), plus extra pieces for the place settings, and service pieces such as platters, serving bowls, cream & sugar (gravy boat got broke several years ago).
I KNOW ! ! You dishaholics are out there are going WHAT !!! HOW CAN YOU !?!?! It was just not being used - been several years.

Packed up ready to be stored in the back of a closet. Liquor boxes are great to pack breakables in to move or store.

What did I do with the space you ask? I now have a place to put all my jewelry making supplies and tools, instead of them being stacked beside the cabinet where everyone can see them when they walk in the door.
Photobucket
I can mark that project off the list - Next! :-)
Be sure and visit Susan to see what she and the other partcipants have to share this week.
Hope everyone has a great week.
Glenda

You have been busy and I think moving your jewelry making supplies into the hutch is a great idea. If the dishes aren't being used, pack em up! I like how you spoil the grands, hey that's what grandparents are for. Have a great week!

Sometimes we have to pick and choose what we are going to use and then store the rest. Great to have your crafts so handy. Looks super. Hugs, Marty

You know I sit and think about what I need to clean out and switch around, and I sit and sit and think some more.

Your jewelry supplies look so organized now. Great Job! Your repurposed jewelry is so beautiful!

Paczki are like doughnuts - jelly-filled ones. They are Polish doughnuts. The dough is a bit richer and they are usually overflowing with filling. These doughnuts are supposed to be so rich that you only eat them once a year - On Fat Tuesday. They are rich; I do think that they should only be eaten once a year--something to wait for, to look forward to eating. I prefer Italian pastries like cannoli, etc. for holidays. I like toast with my coffee or a very, very plain cookie or a Stella Dora toast.

Some dishes are like that...you just don't use them. That is why my Asian dishes went on Craigslist this weekend (of course I haven't had any emails on them as of yet). I've been doing some major dish shifting around as well. I'm not quite ready to post pictures.

I recently gave a set of my grandmothers china to my uncle (her son). I wasn't using, and their family was expanding. Only made since, I've never used it! You'll enjoy your new space.

Be sure to stop by AtticMag this week and tour my home.

Sounds like you have been very productive. I think it was a great idea to free up that space for your jewelry making supplies. No need to store dishes in there that you never use. I just wish I was as organized.

Glenda, I think that's a great to use the cabinet for something you use so often. I had to laugh about the liquor boxes. They are so great for packing breakables. Every time we have moved, I have raided liquor stores for boxes. I always think my new neighbors will think alcoholics have moved in to their neighborhood. laurie

Wow sounds like you’ve been a busy lady! Even though you think your task are not blog worthy I know it must feel good to have all those off your list. I’ve been working on a little project I’m starting (nothing crafty or for the house) and doing a lot of research. Even though I’ve been productive I’ve been tucked away in the office on my butt in front of the computer. I feel like suck a slob but I keep reminding myself that I’m working and being productive, just in a different way than I’m use to. Since I’ve been focusing so much on my project my house work has slacked so I have a list full of house work to do today.

Ha I think that’s so funny that you complemented my grammar! As I’m sure that you’ve noticed I am the worst when it comes to stuff like that. I try to catch my mistakes but a few usually by. Heeheehee I need to print your comment out and hang it on the wall with a gold star! :o)

Isn't that a great feeling to move something you don't use, but put up with for quite some time. You've inspired me to do some of the same! Thanks. Linda

Ah, that looks so familiar! Before we moved, I used the bottom of our hutch for my scrapbooking supplies. It was tight, but it was also so convenient to have them right next to the dining room table! I think you'll love the new use of your space.
