Met. Monday

In my last post, I said I had not finished a project for Met. Monday. However, today I decided to lighten up the dining table a bit and add a touch of Spring. I guess this could be classified as a Metamorphosis, since it went from this -
Photobucket
To this - I think it needs something else, but not sure what. I bought the egg topiary last year after Easter, at Kroger's - 50% off.
Photobucket
Yep - It definitely needs some more work. Can you tell - I am ready for Spring ?!?!
Be sure and visit Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ to see what she and the other participants have to share this week. Thanks Susan for hosting again this week.
Have a great week!

Dab of This and That

What has this picture got to do with this post - Not a "cotton pickin" thing! Just thought you might enjoy a touch of Spring (from last year), since so many are still dealing with that "white stuff".

I had hoped to have had accomplished another project this week, that might be worthy of blogging about for Met. Monday, but it did not happen. Some of you may be thinking - "She sure is a procrastinator" or " She is a little on the lazy side". Welllll - Yes - I am a little of both! :-D But my excuse I am using these days - I am going to "therapy". Probably should be going for mental therapy (maybe that is next :-D). However, I am starting my 5th week of physical therapy. Some of you may remember, I pulled a muscle in my leg in November, then started having problems with my lower back. Well, a very long story made short - Things got worse - A whole lot worse! It seems Mr. Arthritis and Ms. Sciatica Nerve wanted to join the "pain party" caused by "lame muscle" . It seems "lame muscle" told the others to BYOB (Bring Your Own BADSTUFF), and I have had quiet a mess to clean up after all of them.
You see - "muscle" is really a good thing, and the title "lame" only gets attached to it's name when he couldn't "carry his full load" or "pull his own weight". However, even the best of them slip and "go bad" sometimes when influenced by outside activity.

Ms. Sciatica Nerve - She is good also, until she lets her guard down and lets a bad influence like Mr. Arthritis get on her "last Nerve" or when a certain "lame muscle" puts a strain on her. THEN MOVE OVER BABY! That is when she can really become a pain! She can knock you off your feet in a "New York Second", almost brings you to your knees, shorten your time on your feet, and she will make your lower back feel like is is going to break. Sometimes, she gets really riled up and shoots a pain down your leg, and makes you want to cry!

Now Mr. Arthritis - He is a "whole nuther story"! He is one bad dude! He is nothing but trouble from the word go! He can make life miserable for you, can make you hurt, control what you can/cannot do, causes you to pop pills, become close friends with heating pads, etc., etc..
AN UPDATE:
"Lame Muscle" decided to get it's act together. Decided it just was not worth all the pain. Still acts up on occasion, but figured it better not push it's luck to far.

Ms. Sciatica - Well, she is still a little irritated these days, but overall she decided she better straighten up and act right. She is finding out that when she acts up and gets cranky, she gets "zapped with electrodes", pushed on, and manipulated by this person called a "physio therapist".

Mr. Arthritis - Well he is an idiot! he just can't get it in his head that nobody wants him around. Will just have to try and keep him under control and show him who is boss!

THE GOOD NEWS: I have greatly improved, and have started getting my range of motion back slowly. I will only have to go to PT twice a week starting this next week, and will continue exercises for the lower back at home.
Right about now, you are probably thinking - Why did I open this post ! ! :-D

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

My Dollar Store Find

Time for Thrifty Thursday hosted by Leigh @ Tales of Bloggeritaville http://lbratina.blogspot.com/ and Show and Tell Friday hosted by Cindy @ My Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ . Thanks Leigh and Cindy for hosting these fun events again this week. This is another one of the little treasures I got at the dollar store that is closing. I thought it it might look good with some some tall ornamental grasses or such for an arrangement next Fall. It is metal so if used for real flowers I would sit a jar or glass inside of it to hold the water. For $1.60 - thought that was pretty good.

Dab of This and That & Met. Monday

Can't say that I have been doing much of anything constructive and certainly not anything creative lately. Other things in life have gotten in the way, but that is OK. A few things I have done the last couple of days and are not in the category of being "blog worthy", but done are: Papers shredded, junk drawer cleaned out, general housekeeping (needs major), car serviced (but not washed - line to long), finding every excuse to be outside (warmer temps), grocery shopping, etc., etc., and most important 2 of my grands were here for a visit. Had not seen them in a while, so we had a great visit. Ate pizza, and they had a cup cakes for dessert . I know - Spoil them, give them treats, send them home on a sugar high!! :-D

TIME FOR METAMORPHOSIS MONDAY hosted by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ . Thanks Susan for again hosting this fun event. One thing I have accomplished that I have wanted to do for a while now, and that is to pack up some china that never gets used. It was in the bottom of a cabinet taking up space that I wanted to use for other things. Seven piece place settings for twelve (12), plus extra pieces for the place settings, and service pieces such as platters, serving bowls, cream & sugar (gravy boat got broke several years ago).
I KNOW ! ! You dishaholics are out there are going WHAT !!! HOW CAN YOU !?!?! It was just not being used - been several years.
Photobucket
Packed up ready to be stored in the back of a closet. Liquor boxes are great to pack breakables in to move or store.
Photobucket
What did I do with the space you ask? I now have a place to put all my jewelry making supplies and tools, instead of them being stacked beside the cabinet where everyone can see them when they walk in the door.
Photobucket
I can mark that project off the list - Next! :-)
Be sure and visit Susan to see what she and the other partcipants have to share this week.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Cloche Party

I am NOT prepared to participate in Marty's Cloche Party, http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/ , but I will make an attempt. To much "Stuff" going on. I have not changed out my cloches for Winter, but do plan to get them done for Easter/Spring. Some of you may not have seen one of them I did for the Winter holidays. But if you have and don't want to see it again, just surf on by. :)
I did this one for the holidays and it remains the same at this point in time.

Not really a cloche, but is under glass.

Valentine Party

I had told Laurie @ Bargain Hunting (and chatting)With Laurie http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/ that I would participate in her Valentine Party. But I got to thinking, I really don't decorate for Valentine's Day. Then I remembered the ivy topiary I bought at Cracker Barrel for 70% off after Christmas. It is heart shaped and even has some red on it - a cardinal.
Photobucket
Better picture of the cardinal.
Photobucket
A few other hearts around the house. I took these pictures this time last year.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketThis is a little handmade Valentine I found in with some vintage valentine cards in an antique store many years ago. When I opened it, I immediately recognized the name of the person who made the card. The store owner gave it to me. My Aunt made it when she was a very young child (she said probably first grade). She past away several years ago and was in her 90's.

Dab of This and That

THIS IS WHAT I GOT UP TO THIS MORNING ! 4 TO 5 ins of "that fluffy white stuff!!
Photobucket
I have to admit - It was beautiful to look at while I drank my morning coffee and checked my email. It was a good thing I was not taking a drink of coffee when I read one email that said and I quote "The Saints win and H-ll freezes over" - You know who you are! :-D If I had been drinking coffee when I opened the email, I would have had to clean the monitor off! :-) But it was a good way to start the day -with a laugh!! Thanks!
I know - We did not get it as bad as the ones who got the blizzard, but I am tired of Winter. I am ready for 75 to 80 degree temps and SUNSHINE !
Some may remember this primrose in a past post of mine.
Photobucket
Well - Look at it now! The new blooms are a different color.
Photobucket
Do primroses normally do this? I don't remember ever having one to change like this one.
AN OBSERVATION: Why do so many Lean Cuisines taste alike?
VENT: Please DO NOT put me on a speaker phone when you are talking to me on the phone! Just saying.

DON'T FORGET: Laurie @ Bargain Hunting(and Chatting) With Laurie is hosting a Valentine Party on Feb. 12th. http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/
Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life is hosting a Cloche Party on Feb. 19th. http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/

Thrifty Buys & Show and Tell

I wanted to share a couple of things I bought recently at a dollar store that is going out of business. I really like this candle holder with the frosted winter scene of a child pulling a sled on each side. I put a tea lite in a blue holder and that is what is creating the blue glow. Can't locate the ticket to find out exactly what I ended up paying for this, but it was not a lot - everything in the store was on sale.
Photobucket

Photobucket
Also got this basket (really not deep enough to be a basket) covered in moss, and small pine cones and will probably use it in an Easter decoration. I bought a smaller one like this also, but forgot to take a picture of it. It is pretty good size, unusual and got it for $5.40.
