Well apparently Dad did not serve it up fast enough and "junior" grabbed the rest and took off running.
Have had a lot of wrens and robins this year, but gave up trying to get a good picture, they move a lot faster than I do.
Chipmunks have been back, but not a lot recently. They usually visit in the morning, but since we have had a lot of rain recently (not to mention the temps are back up), guess they have stayed closer to their "abode" wherever that is.
The cooler than normal temps we have had recently packed up and moved on, and the typical Summer hot/humid days have returned. Saw a couple of squirrels laid out on the fence cooling off today when the heat index hit 105. No current pic as they ran off when I opened the door. Took this pic 3(?) years ago of one doing the same.
That is what is going on in the courtyard these days!!

Yes - I am pretty much still on semi "hiatus" from my blog. Hoping to be back with my regular "Dab of This and That Ramblings" in the near future.

Dear Glenda, I too have been "on hiatus," informally, from my blog ... and even from reading blogs! So I am far, far behind ... but I do love your Cardinal story. I think the Daddy birds keep feeding the "babies" longer than the mommies do. The Moms seem to be able to say SCRAM more easily.
Hope all's well now with you!

Hope you are doing well! Your cardinals are so cute. I can't seem to get close enough to take photos of them.

Thanks for sharing a little bit of the activity in your courtyard. I get a kick out of watching the birds in our birdbath. When it gets over 100 degrees, they just sit there...smart birds. Hope all is well Glenda.
Glenda, I hope you are okay. I am glad you wrote a post. It's interesting to post about the animals you see in your yard. Amazing what people come up with to blog about. Wish I was more creative like that.
They are soo durn cute! We're getting the HHH here again too.
Gentle hugs and prayers!

I literally laughed out loud reading that the baby bird snatched the bug and ran off to eat it.... how precious is that!!!!
I am glad to see you bloggin'... I was working in my backyard and I was thinking of you today.... big hugs :-)

Hello, I do hope you are feeling well or on the way to recovery. I love your cute Cardinal story. It is sweet seeing the adults feeding their young. Take care and thanks for posting! Have a happy week ahead.
Your birds are so cute and look at that adorable chipmunk! Enjoy your afternoon!
Nature stories are the best real-life stories, aren't they? It looks like you've got a great front-row seat for all the antics.
Exquisite photos ~ love the focus on nature right in your own back yard ~ delightful!, carol, xo
There are lots of fun things going on in your courtyard. I hope that whatever is going on in your life is improving.
Watching the antics of the wildlife is a past time here in the Sandbox. They amuse us and cause my hackles to rise at times. It is best to keep it simple until things return to normal. Look after yourself. Valerie
Thanks for the sweet glimpse of 'wild life'! :)

Still thinking and sending thoughts and prayers your way Glenda!
I have really gotten into bird watching, it is really interesting.
Right now I am loving the hummingbirds.
Hugs,
Cindy
You have me laughing and I needed too! Love the critters in your yard and mine looks about the same. It has been so rainy here and now so humid.
I have been on a blogging hiatus too!
Hugs,
Donna
You captured some great pictures, Glenda. The squirrels are driving me crazy this year. They are eating the limbs on my flowering trees! I don't remember them ever doing that before. Y'all are still in my prayers. laurie
Hope you are doing well! These wrens are cute, great series of shots.
Great photos! There's a squirrel in our yard that is actually trying to take the top off one of the feeders! He almost succeeded. Isn't that wild!
Hope you're doing well.
What a fun post! Enjoyed reading it! I am sure that you enjoyed watching the birds, I would have laughed out loud and scared them off when the baby took the bug. Visiting form A Southern Daydreamer.
It's so fun to enjoy these little creatures. The entire time we lived in our previous home (22 yrs.) we never saw a squirrel. My son bought it and the other day when we were down there he showed us all of the little piles of nuts some squirrel had stored in the playhouse. There were at least 6 different spots. I didn't get to see the squirrel, but enjoyed seeing his work. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
I love watching cardinals! They are so skittish though and fly off at any movement. You were very lucky to catch those shots! I find watching wild life very calming :)
I always think it's strange when squirrels lie around like that! Don't you just love watching the birds. Cardinals are particularly sweet.
Enjoy your time away, Glenda!
