Thought I was going to be posting pictures of my new kitchen/dining area floor this week - but how does that old saying go "the best laid plans..........."? The person who has to install some new 1/4 round in a couple of places and touch up where all the 1/4 round had to be removed, then replaced had to reschedule. Actually the floor got laid 2 days earlier than scheduled. Last Tues. morning, I am drinking my morning coffee, hair not combed, no makeup on, and on the computer . Then the phone rings around 8:20 and I hear this voice say "are you ready"? My first thought was "for what ???", then realized who was on the phone. Long story short - They were coming 2 days earlier than originally scheduled!!!
NO !!! I was NOT ready !!! There was another shelf full of breakables in the china cabinet to be removed, etc., etc. First priority was to comb hair, and put on makeup - would not want to scare anybody off ! Then ran back down stairs and started moving the small stuff, and the living room ended up looking like a tornado hit. I have not moved that fast in years!
The men got here and the first big piece of furniture they started to move was the cabinet. They looked at the miniature general store and stopped in their tracks ! I told them I was not going to take all that out, so if it fell over, it would just have to fall over, and I taped the doors so they would not come open They moved it 2 times, and the only thing I see toppled over is some mini canned goods on one shelf, and a couple of other items - Good job ! :-D
One of the men asked what the small cake stand and dome would be used for (it was empty at the time). I was so tempted to say "decorate it and use it as a cloche", but behaved and told him I used it for cupcakes, muffins, etc. :-D
Since then, I have had a house full celebrating a couple of birthdays, so have a couple of left over cupcakes. :-D
Trying not to eat one for a couple of days, since I "over indulged" this last weekend with BBQ and the "fixins", but it was so good.
Speaking of food: I had my first vine ripened tomato sandwich of the season a couple of weeks ago, and could not decide why it just did not taste the same. Then the "light bulb" came on - I used white whole wheat bread and mayo with olive oil !!!! It should have been plain white sandwich bread and miracle whip !!!
Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend !

Repurposed beads
One thing I really enjoy doing is to repurpose vintage/old jewelry. However, lately with other things going on, I have not spent much time creating new pieces. Some of you may remember a post I did sometime ago about the vintage necklace with the pretty aqua colored glass beads, but the chain was broken and badly deteriorated . Took everything apart, and cleaned the glass beads.
I made this necklace some time ago - have had picture of it on my sidebar for a while now.
I am linking up with Cindy @ "Show and Tell Friday" http://romantichome.blogspot.com/
and Laurie @ " A Few of My Favorite Things Saturdays" http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/
Be sure and visit Cindy and Laurie to see what they and the other participants have to share this week. Thank you ladies for hosting these fun events.
This is going to be a busy weekend. Family coming in for the weekend, birthdays to celebrate (not mine), and I need to get off the computer and get things ready.
Hope you have a great weekend and staying cool!

Dab of This and That
QUESTION: If you eat nothing but a big plate of salad for dinner, will it cancel out the 3 "Fun Size Butterfinger" candy bars you ate earlier in the day? Doesn't hurt to ask !!
I KNOW: I know one of the reasons I procrastinate getting things done around here! It's all the other work and mess that is created to get the job done. Good Grief!!!!!
Unreal how much "stuff" I have in the china cabinet, that has to be removed before "they" can move the cabinet to install the new flooring. Then there is the furniture in the living room that has to be moved to temporarily make room for the china cabinet and dining table.
I REMEMBER WHEN: It is HOT and HUMID here, but I remember the Summer of 1980, when this area had a record high of 108 , and then the humidity that drove the heat index much higher. That Summer the air conditioner went out in my car and I could not afford to get it repaired. Drove that car another 3 Summers without air conditioning, but did not SWEAT - Us Southern Women Glisten !! :-D (I kept telling myself that - but felt like sweat to me!!!)
Just a Dab of This and That.
Have a great week !

Cloche Party
It is time for the "Summer Cloche Party" hosted by Marty @ http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/
Many of you have already seen this cloche, as I recently posted about it HERE. I plan to add something extra for a vignette, but will wait till after the people come in next week to put in the new flooring, since everything has to be moved.
This is my only contribution for this cloche party, since I have not done anything different with my other cloches since Spring. Be sure and visit Marty to see what she and the other participants have to share with us. Thanks Marty for hosting this fun event once again.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Dab of This and That
Today has been one of these days (magnet that hangs on my fridge ).
The last two nights we have had thunder storms roll thru during the wee hours of the morning, and very rudely interrupted my sleep, which has gotten out of whack anyway. I had plans to get a few things accomplished today, but instead have been walking around like a zombie.
One thing I did accomplish yesterday, was to decide on the new flooring for my kitchen/dining area. To be honest, I got tired of looking. The tiles on there now have separated in places and the adhesive is surfacing where separated, then dirt sticks to it - well you get the picture.
I got the choice down to these two. I like the colors in the one on the left, but not the finish (very dull). I brought several samples home of the lighter tile look, and most would take on a yellow or pink tint, when next to the beige carpet that it will be next to.
It was hard to decide, as I did not want something that looked like it belonged strictly in a kitchen, since the space is so open. So - ended up going with the slate tile look. If all goes well, it will be installed next week.
What do you think? If you had this light fixture hanging over your dining table, would you replace it with a different style? Yeah - I know - it is dated! Anyone close to my age remembers these light fixtures, when they were popular many, many years ago - late 60's thru mid 70's. I bought it from someone years ago, at a great price. Well great until he broke one of the panels in it when delivering it to me. I bought it anyway and took it to a man that worked on stained glass and he was able to replace the broken panel. It hung in my blue and white kitchen, where use to live, and has hung over my dining table since moving here years ago. I will probably decide after the new floor goes in and I get the green and white wallpaper covered up. I already have someone wanting it, if it is replaced.

Christmas in July
Yes, the calendar says it is July. However, it was like "Christmas" at my house today, as I was one of the very fortunate winners of Laurie's "Ice Cream for Two" giveaway
http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/You know it is going to be good when you open the box and it is filled with pretty PINK packing peanuts. You are probably thinking - what is pretty about packing peanuts?
OK ! Back to unpacking my gifts. :-D
My camera does not do these beautiful pieces justice. Every item has birds on it somewhere. Look at this beautiful wire cloche !!!! I am thinking this just may become my center piece for my dining table.
Toile plates, bowls that are a very soft blue, and a metal box with a bird print on top - SO PRETTY!
Picture sorta blurry, but this is the painted egg inside the cloche - adorable!
An adorable glass bird ornament. It will NOT be put away for the Christmas tree, but displayed where it can be seen year round. The 2 hummingbirds are so cute. You can use them as place cards and sit them on the edge of the glass.
A mosaic of all my beautiful gifts I unpacked today.
