IT'S FALL Y'ALL

It is time for "It's Fall Y'all" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitalityblog.com/. Thank you Rhoda for hosting this fun event.

I don't do a lot of Fall decorating, but do put out a few things here and there.

The small pot of mums I had on my dining table (see header) has now all bloomed out and wilted, so replaced them with a ceramic pumpkin.

White pumpkins in the living room with a couple of very large faux acorns.

In my courtyard, outside the sliding glass door. Only a few of the blooms have opened on the mums, so hope they will last for a good while.

Of course, must have a little Fall wrapped treat sitting around.

You probably remember this from the cloche party.Photobucket

Today's Thrifty Treasures

THE SUN IS FINALLY SHINING ! :-) We are finally getting a break from rain. The weather is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS today and looks like it will be for all of this week. :-)

Time for "Today's Thrifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitalityblog.com/. I have not been to yardsales , thrift store shopping or "junkin" in a few weeks now. I want to finish some already started projects. There was an estate sale not far from me that I really was tempted to go to, but was good and did not go.

I did check out a moving sale in the neighborhood a few weeks ago and bought this chandelier. I don't have ceiling light fixtures in some of my rooms, but this has the cord and chain where it can be hung from a hook and plugged into an outlet. This will be a "redo" project, as the crystals are plastic - not glass. So all of that will be coming off and replaced with glass and not quiet as much of it. :) May or may not replace shades - depends which room I end up using it in.

Sorry about the blurry pictures. That is a lot of plastic beads!

I was tempted to stop at several places when out of town this last week to look for some glass crystals, even took my camera , but was more intersted in getting home.
Be sure to visit Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality to see what she and the others have to share this week.
Have a great week!

Rain, Rain Go Away

I know there are many times of the year we need rain and wishing we had more, but good grief! Someone needs to turn the faucets off around here for a while. If I heard correctly, a chance of rain is predicted for the next 7 days also.
Photobucket
Have wanted to take some pictures of what is left of my blooming plants the last week, as they are pretty much doing their last "Hurrah" for the Summer. But the weather has not permitted, and when I looked at them late this afternoon, they were pretty beaten down from the heavy rains. Since the temps are still pretty warm, maybe they will perk back up, before it gets cool.
I did not get any fun projects done this week, as have been taking care of some "necessary" projects - one being a plumbing issue. Hopefully taken care of, but was told I need to have two faucets replaced within the next year - I knew that was coming, just did not want to hear it. :-(
A RANT: It is that time of year again!! Unfortunately, I have a Hickory Nut tree that hangs over my courtyard. :-( Belongs to a neighbor, and why on earth many years ago, someone allowed that "thing" to grow there - I have no idea. Do you know what grows on Hickory Nut trees??? Hickory Nuts !! Those things are dangerous when they fall ! They will dent your car like hail does, one cracked my daughter's windshield several years ago, step on one and turn your ankle, and heaven forbid if one hits your head (ask me how I know this)! What adds insult to injury is - each afternoon usually around 3:30 or so, the squirrel population camps out in the tree and has dinner and if you walk outside you will be bombarded with the shells, along with whole nuts falling. Their dinner goes on for at least 2 or more hours. This daily event started about a month ago and will last another month or so. Ok - I am through (I think)!
Have a great weekend!

Cloche Party

It is time for "The Cloche Party" hosted by Marty @ A Stroll Thru Life http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/ . Thank you Marty for hosting this fun event.
I don't have a whole lot to contribute to the party, since I don't decorate a lot for Fall. I did change out one of my cloches for a Fall look Used the moss that was already in there, added one of a pair of birds , 2 faux pumpkins and a faux gourd.
Photobucket
A simple centerpiece. I put faux gourds (think there is a small pumpkin or two in there), a few cinnamon sticks and small pinecones in the hurricane candle holder/vase. Then added the birds, as I thought the colors went well with it all, and changed out the candles.
Photobucket
I already had all of the supplies needed for both projects. The only new purchase was the small pot of mums added to the centerpiece (see header).
I am really looking forward to seeing what Marty, and all the other participants have to share for the party. If you have not already, you can check out the party at http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/.

Have a great weekend.

Today's Thrifty Treasure

Time for "Today's Thrifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitalityblog.com/ Thank you Rhoda for hosting this weekly event.

Did not go to any sales this week, so did not think I had any thrifty treasures to share this week. Then I remembered this little table I bought at a yardsale several weeks ago. Solid wood and only $2.00, I could not pass it up. Looks a little rough at this point, but a little paint will take care of that. Not sure what color I will paint it , as I don't know where I will be putting it just yet.

That is my contribution to "Today's Thrifty Treasure".

If you have not already, go over to visit Rhoda to see what she and the others have to share this week.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend.

9/8/09 Tues. ETA: Forgot about the chandelier I bought at a moving sale last week, and remembered it when I stumped my toe on it this morning. :-) A post for another time.
