Thrifty Treasures & Met. Monday

It is that time of the week again. Time for "Today's Thrifty Treasures" hosted by Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality http://southernhospitalityblog.com/.

I did not go to any yardsales this weekend for a couple of reasons - #1 IT IS HOT OUT THERE ! Also, I needed to get caught up on some things around here. A week ago Saturday, I was on my way somewhere else and spotted a couple of sales close to each other and of course I had to be stop. First sale was a dud. The house was very pretty on the outside, well kept and very nice neighborhood. The garage door was open and that was where the "pretty" stopped. It was piled high with "stuff", mainly just junk and I don't mean "lets go junkin" kind of junk. Lots of boxes, pieces of wood, etc. and a lot of it looked water damaged and the smell was - well - I am not sure what it smelled like, it was not very pleasant. She had a few things piled up on some tables, most was dirty. She may have had the treasure of the century somewhere in there, but I was not going to stick around to look for it. Stopped at another one not to far from the first and that is where I got these 2 bargains. I have no clue about these games , but saw this XBox for $40, with all it's controls, cords, etc. I know they are pretty pricey new and the lady and her son assured me that it worked fine. Said he was selling it as he upgraded to the 360. I tried to call my daughter to see if she was interested in the Grands having it, but could not reach her. I know the XBox 360 is the thing to have now, but thought this might be ok for the kids. Took the chance and bought it and it turned out they did not have one.

At the same sale I got this silver plated bowl for $2 - still in the original wrapping and box.

I will also join in for "Metamorphosis Monday" hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.
This is just a small contribution. Some of you probably remember me trying to decide where to hang this little "thing" with the hooks , and I asked for your opinion. The vote was unanimous - I hung it in the 1/2 bath next to the candle holder redo. I will eventually add a small object in the corner also . As we all know - odd numbers. :-)

I left the little piece of ribbon on the key, as there is a picture on the opposite wall with that color in it, but may take it off.
These are my contributions for Metamorphosis Monday and Today's Thrifty Treasures. If you have not already go by and visit Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch and Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality to see what they and the other participants have to share with us.
Off to HD or L's to buy more "decorator's helper" (spray paint). :-) Got another project in the works.
Hope you have a great week!
Glenda

Ooooo, pretty bowl! And I hear ya about stinky sales! There's one we go to every year, and the cat pee smell hits you before you even get in the garage! I don't want to be rude, so I only spend 5 seconds in the garage, then I practically run back down the driveway!

Know what you mean by stinky sales - I ran into one of those Saturday myself - so bad I couldn't stand around to look.

Hi Glenda, glad the g-kids will get to have some fun with the X box. I'm sure your bowl will look great w/fruit in it, or all crafted up!What are YOUR plans? I like your ginormous keys on your hooky thing in the bathroom.

Good Find on the X-Box, my 12 year old is standing behind me asking about it and I told him about your find and he said "SHUT UP" which mean - in 12 yr old boy language-that totally rocks and I wish you had found that Mom.

I hope you will come by for a visit.

Glenda, I think you found the perfect place for the key rack. It looks so pretty with your candle. How great to get that pretty silver basket still in the box, and I'd be willing to bet the grands are going to be excited about your x box purchase. laurie

Oh...really love the height of the candlestick in that corner...what a nice little change. It's funny how a room can feel so different with just a few little changes. :-)
