Favorite Things

I always enjoy seeing all the adorable furbabies out there in "blogland" that allow humans to occupy their homes. I do not have a furbaby at this time for a couple of reasons. The main reason - because of allergies. I was going thru some photos a few days ago and ran across pictures of the last 2 that allowed me to share my home with them. Pictures not real great as I had to scan them from photos taken many years ago with one time cameras.
These 2 definitely fit in the category of "Favorite Things".
Simba was the last cat that I had, and was an inside/outside cat. I am aware inside cats usually live longer, but he would not accept being inside 24/7 ( did not know his past). His main fault - Never met a stranger! He disappeared on a Saturday morning after I left to run errands. I don't know if someone picked him up or got on the back of a delivery truck that was parked across the street when I left. I called the company to find out if he was found on the truck on their next stop, but they insisted that the delivery men would have told them if a cat jumped off the truck. I spent a lot of time walking the neighborhood calling "Simba", and I am sure my neighbors thought I was nuts. Sure hope he ended up in a good home.

Here is sweet Oreo. He was a sweetie and loved to play fetch with starlite wrapped mints. I Kept a supply of them in an antique scale and if I was sitting on the sofa he would bring one to me to throw down the hall. He would take off running like crazy, pick it up and bring it back to me to throw again - this would go on for some time. When he would get tired of the game, that mint would be pitched in the trash. Simba would do the same, but not as often as Oreo.
Hi Mom - Let's play !! I will get the mint for you to throw - OK ?
I am ready - throw the mint!"
OK - I am tired now. Can I have a special treat?

Unfortunately, Oreo had to be put down, as he got the dreaded feline UTI, and it was to far advanced before he showed symptoms. :-(

I have had many other pets, but these were the last 2.

I no longer have the country/primitive decor. - Got rid of most all of it before moving where I am now.

They were both adorable Glenda!
Our cats are inside/outside cats. We live in the country and they just adore being outside. They may not live as long but they sure will have the quality of life!

Happy memories about your cats. They rule the house. I like my cat better now that she stays outside. I let her in the house during the cold Winters. Have a nice weekend.

Our fur babies are special, aren't they? Your Oreo reminds me of my Kitty! And what a fun game with the mints! You are right...they bring sunshine into our lives while permitting us to live with them! Happy weekend!...Debbie

Glenda, both of them were so pretty, and I love that they played fetch with the candy. My neighbors know when they see me driving slowly in my car, I am looking for one of my dogs. I've been lucky enough to find mine when they are missing. That would be so had to not know what happened to them. Thank you for linking your pretty friends to Favorite Things. laurie

Oh Glenda, how precious they were!
I'm more of a dog person and my hubby is allergic to cats, but I love painting them!
Hugs,
Monicax.

P.S Ha ha, you made me laugh loud with the ironing board thing. Mine is always out in my studio, but I definitely prefer to press lace and fabric than clothes!

What sweet cats, and I LOVE the story about the Starlite mints. Adorable! Aren't animals funny? They just have such individual personalities, endlessly fascinating.

Sorry about the allergies! I can't imagine life now without a furry friend padding along behind me in the house.

(I used to be very afraid of dogs and cats, can you believe it?)

I love animals so much but this is the sad part, letting them go. Especially when you don't know where they actually went.

Maybe one day you'll have another furbaby to love. So many need homes.

Hi Glenda...Oreo was a real cutie. Pets bring us so much joy, and memories to cherish and share.

Glenda, I would love to have a fur baby, but I am allergic to cats, too! I always wondered why I coughed, wheezed, and had runny eyes and swollen lips as a child~ we always had a cat! I don't think anyone gave any thought to allergies back then. It was only when I was in college that I found out I was allergic. Your two babies were adorable. They sure provided you with entertainment. Not too many cats play "fetch!"
Always nice to hear from you, my friend. I'm trying to play catch up and get in my visits.

Such cuties Glenda. I had a cat that was my pride and joy in college. He stayed with me after I got married and after I had my first daughter. We had to put him down after he started biting my baby. He was always a mean cat, but had good reason - he came from an abusive home. We also had a rabbit named Oreo!

Kim

As cute as Simba is, I'm bettin somebody kept him. I'm so sorry about Oreo. He sounds like he was so much fun. I'll bet you really enjoyed being their mom. My little Suzi pup is going to be 16 soon. She's healthy now, but I know my time with her won't be much longer. I'd love to come paint your cabinets, but I've developed a severe allergy to paint brushes. lol.

So sad about your cats. I have lost two of my "boys" in the past four years, the boys being Shih Tzu dogs. It's really sad when something happens to our pets. Yes they are our favorite things.

Aw, such precious kitties! So sorry you lost them. Our pets are really a part of the family, aren't they?

I'm always intrigued by others' pets, too, and I love cats. Most cats. Yours are both beautiful, but I've got a special fondness for the little white and red one as he reminds me of one I used to have in childhood. Her name was "Sugar 'n Spice." I'm sure that such a cute kitty found another loving home, but how sad when they wander off that way.

Glenda-Someone tried to give me a black kitten this week! Yours are beautiful. One reason I have never wanted one is because they seem so independent with a tendency to leave home---that would break my heart! Maybe one day you will have another. SOOO hot here. I tried to float on a raft in the pool and was too hot for that--just came in and took a nap instead :) Have a good week--I'm going to bake some things :)

They are darling. I've never had a cat...only dogs growing up and since I've had my own home. My beagle just turned 14, so I worry about her...
