A Dab of This and That Ramble....

Would love to be posting pictures I took today of pretty azalea blooms in my courtyard, a few irises, along with some freshly potted blooming annuals to sit about here and there in the courtyard. You know - Spiffing everything up for Easter!
Nope !  Not happening here.  Another dark, dreary, and cold day.  However, I am very thankful that my area is not getting the snow that so many in other parts of the country are still getting.
The vinca vine (yes - that invasive, irritating plant) has only managed to produce a couple of blooms so far.  That alone, tells me how slow Spring is "springing"  this year.
I have always heard to wait until the week after Easter to buy/plant the annuals - guess I should be patient and do so....
Pictures I took 4/5/09 and Easter was 4/12/09, and  the plants ended up vacationing in my dining area when the temps dropped unexpectedly...

Of course last year was an exception  - Spring came early and stayed around.

So bottom line - as hard as it is, I am trying not to buy/plant to early this year.
What does the courtyard look like as I type? Gray, dreary, nothing in bloom  and we won't even talk about the the mess the birds that ate the berries made when having a party in the trees above.

May have missed a good sale :   Have not been to a good estate/flea market/junkin sale in some time now, so scanned thru the estate sale listings last Saturday, and saw nothing promising.  Wellll-----I messed up ! Either one was late loading the pictures or I was "a sleep on the job".   Sunday afternoon, I checked to see what was coming up next couple of weeks and saw one ending that afternoon!!  Lots of old/vintage bling - but a problem!  Only a few minutes til it closed - no way could I get there in time.  But then there may not have been much left either.  I have really gotten out of practice hitting the sales.

Just another Dab of This and That Ramble....

Hang in there spring is coming:-) I haven't planted anything either because I've just been too busy. It will get done.
Oh no, a promising garage sale and it passed you by? There's always the next one.

My mom always told me not to plant outside until May 1st, and we usually stick to about that. This year we almost need to start the yard over. Between the drought, the trees falling down, now all the snow and as it started melting this afternoon...it is a mud pit out there...it is hard to imagine it will ever look pretty in my yard again. Luckily, landscaping is my husband's favorite thing to do...so there is hope!

Funny but it got cold here in FL too, and also it froze In Natchez. I hope my plants there are ok. Your flowers are pretty, Glenda...Christine

We've had a very slight warm up and it feels wonderful. Hope it lasts long enough to melt the snow still on the ground!

I love to put vinca vine in with my geraniums. We don't plant a lot but do enjoy the couple of pots on the front porch! it won't be long and you will get your courtyard looking beautiful again!
