On the road again (not me).....
For daughter and her family, it is football games on Friday nights, often times band competition on Saturdays, and after school practice, practice, practice. Is Sunday the only day of the week to relax? Maybe !! But not if the pecans are falling, and you have to hurry and grab what you can before the squirrels show up.She is hoping to harvest at least 3 gallons from one tree. They have 3 other trees, however, a fungus took over and damaged the pecans on those trees.

Also, with the abundance of apples in the markets this time of the year, she found time to make up a batch of applesauce. She said it smelled and tasted like apple pie. Yummy!!

Oh, and while she was "on a roll", she started a batch of apple cider vinegar...
Glad she learned her preserving/canning skills from someone else, because I was good at stocking the freezer, not jars.
Have an enjoyable and safe weekend.

Bad for us - the pecan crop here is not going to be good this year. The rainy weather apparently ruined most of them. Then, the squirrels finished off the rest. I can't bake without pecans during the holidays. Last year I got some real nice ones at Sam's.
Have a great weekend.

Everything looks delicious! She's so fortunate to have such an abundance of apples.
I stocked the freezer (still do) but never canned much...helped my mom some..she was a great canner.
Hello, your daughter sounds very busy! But, I am very sure it is a happy busy! The pecans sound awesome, but it is sad that some trees were damaged. The applesauce sounds delicious, I love apples. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
Very nice that your daughter is doing the canning and can share. I didn't do any of this either but would sure be excited if we had pecan trees here.
Sounds like you have a really good domesticated daughter, Glenda. Nice!...Christine
Cute pictures from the pumpkin patch. Those are some big pumpkins. Your daughter has lots of energy, though she is young!
Oh my, pecans are my very favorite nut! I guess I just take them for granted here and don't think about the harvesting issues. This is such a wonderful time of life for your daughter and family. I remember when our last daughter graduation from high school and we were left with a such a huge void in their constant activity schedule. We're recovered :)
Busy time of year for sure. I would love to have pecans! One of my favorite nuts. I use them in everything, and then of course I love, love pecan pie! I've never heard of making your own vinegar, very cool! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
So nice to have apples and pecans. I live in walnut country, but find walnuts more bitter than pecans. Happy preserving.
October is a busy month, both in school and in nature, so much to be done.
