This is a picture of the first doll house I put together from a kit (and will be the last). It is the one I gave to one of my Granddaughters in 2005. These pictures were taken in 2002, with one of those one time cameras and are not real great. When I tried to enlarge them, they became blurry. Can't retake them as I no longer have the house, and the furnishings are packed up waiting for me to finish the inside of the San Franciscan that I am working on (at the rate I am going, that may be never). You can see from the opening in the upstairs hallway, I never installed the stairs, also never installed the front door .

The walls appear crooked, but they are not as you can tell in the above picture.

Have a great week!

ETA: Took the pics off of CD and reuploaded them at a larger size than what was on the original post - still blurry, but a little bigger.

Show and Tell Friday

OK - Somebody turn the faucets off !!! Another day of rain, another one for tomorrow and chance it won't end til Sat. AM. :(

On the bright side - it is time for Show and Tell hosted by Cindy @ My Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/. Thanks Cindy for hosting this weekly event.

My contribution this week is a real "blast from the past". I was going to say - remember when we all had those clutch bags covered in beads and sequins that we carried out in the evening to parties, weddings, etc.. But then I thought - No, many of the bloggers out there are not old enough to remember them. :-) Well, I AM old enough! (there I said it) :-) What you are about to see are 2 of mine that I have kept all these years - from the mid 60's. These were hard to photograph because of the light reflecting off of them.
The basic white -

Photobucket
And the basic black -
Photobucket
These little beauties attended many evening events and hold many memories. Neither one has been used in many years, but I don't have the heart to get rid of them.
That is my contribution to "Show and Tell". Be sure and visit Cindy to see what she and the other participants have to share this week.

Now - off to see if Susan @ "Thoughts From Over the Rainbow" got the Ark out of drydock for us, and to see what food and drink provisions I need to bring along! :-D
Have a great weekend!

Outdoor Wednesday

Time for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Thanks Susan for again hosting this weekly event.

Our beautiful sunshine and clear blue skies were short lived in the MidSouth. This was my view while having my morning coffee - more rain.PhotobucketPhotobucket
Rain on the pumpkin - at least it is not frost!

Photobucket

A while back I posted about the squirrels having their dinner in the hickory nut tree over my courtyard, and how the pieces fell everywhere. As it turns out, the broken pieces make for an easy meal for the chipmonks. I saw this little guy having a snack on my patio. They are extremely skiddish around here, due to the heavy cat population.Photobucket
This fellow was above my back door a few days ago, and he stayed up there a couple of days, then moved to the screen for another day or 2. Thought he was finally gone, then this past weekend he was on the door mat for several hours.

Photobucket

Was sitting at the dining table yesterday and a squirrel was at my sliding glass door looking at me. By the time I picked up the camera, he took off. I guess the wildlife know the cold is not far off and are looking for a warmer abode.

This is my small contribution to "Outdoor Wednesday". Be sure to visit Susan to see what she and the other participants have to share this week.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Met. Monday

Time again for Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Thanks Susan for hosting again this week.

My contribution to share this week is a small one and very budget friendly. Some of you probabley already knew about the unfinished words you can buy at the Dollar Tree - I just found them last week . Since I plan on using some rubon letters to monogram some candles for small gifts, I thought one of these to go with it would work out great and the price is right.

Before. You can tell my makeshift dropcloth has seen many spray paint projects.

We finally got a break from the rain - yesterday and today were gorgeous days. Sunshine, clear blue skies and mild temps - gotta love it. And with beautiful weather like that, you gotta go play right ? Right! I had a couple of free tickets to a bead show, shared one with Laura from Hidden Promise http://hiddenpromise.blogspot.com/ , and we managed to take a little weight off our wallets on Saturday. :-) Hey - I was good, as I only bought 3 strands of beads since I need to use some of the supplies I already have. Now - how much weight did Laura's wallet lose you ask? I am not talking, but she is going to be making some beautiful jewelry! She repurposes old/vintage jewelry also and she had some georgeous pieces with her to match up with beads and such. Don't tell anyone, but she went back today. :-) Laura - If you read this, be sure and take pictures of your finished jewelry, as we want to see them.

Have a great week!

Outdoor Wednesday

Can't believe it is time again for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ . Thanks Susan for hosting this weekly event. Due to all the rain we have had, I have not been able to do much picture taking outside lately. This is the 3rd day in a roll, that we have actually had sunshine and a clear blue sky, but where I have been the last couple of days the beautiful Fall colors were just not there. On one of the many rainy days that we have had, I went thru some CD's of pictures I had taken this time last year, so thought I would share some of them with you. The first one, is of one of over 20 of the famous Germantown Horses that were on display at different locations last Summer, then auctioned off in October, 2008. Many of them are still on display around the city. Being October, I thought this would be a good time to post this pink lady's photo ( love her pink tennis shoes). :-) There is a website that gives detailed information about the horse, the artist who decorated the horse, its name, etc., but I am having problems locating the site. When I do locate it, I will add that info. I had it bookmarked on my computer that took a nose dive several months ago. Isn't she a beauty - I think she is my favorite. Photobucket

Taken at the local Farmers' Market.

Birdcage Transformed

A little on the cool side, but at least we have blue skies and sunshine today! ! It had gotten to the point, I thought I needed to go shopping for a boat, but then Susan over at Thoughts from Over the Rainbow was going to build an Ark, so made reservations for room on her boat.

I am joining Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch , for Metamorphosis Monday http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Thanks Susan for hosting this fun weekly event. My contribution this week is the redo of one of my birdcages.

I have found that when I am out and about, I have a tendency to see a use for things that may be different from what it was intended. Case in point - Was at Garden Ridge recently and wandered into the Christmas decorations section. I spotted an ornament that immediately made me think "chandelier" and that little jewel jumped in my basket and guess where I hung it? I got the idea from Cindy @ My Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ . Someone sent her a beautiful mini chandelier made from a fork and she hung it in one of her beautiful birdcages. Thanks Cindy for the great idea. After hanging it in one of my birdcages, I thought it needed some furniture in there also. So dug around in my minis for some white furniture (that I almost got rid of a while back), and ran across a tiny white (well almost white) poodle - and Wa La!
Photobucket
Photobucket
May need to move the poodle - looks like it is looking for a way to escape.
Photobucket
Close up of the "chandelier".
Photobucket
Photos not real great, but this thing was hard to photograph. I will do a little more "fine tuning", as I find other things to add.
Photobucket
A neighbor dropped by yesterday afternoon, and I have a feeling she was thinking "this girl has to much time on her hands" !! :-)

Hope your weather is as pretty as it is here today!
Have a great week!

Show and Tell Friday

Friday and it is another gray, wet, chilly day here. :( You would think since the weather has been bad for so long, I would be caught up on everything that needs to be done in the house. Nope - that is not happening. If anything, I think it just gives me more time to sit around and think of more things that need to be done. I need some sunshine!!
I almost forgot - being Friday, it is time for "Show and Tell Friday" hosted by Cindy @ Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Thanks you Cindy for hosting this fun event.

Remember in the 80's, when it seemed like everone was crazy over ducks. Ducks were everywhere - on wallpaper (especially border), linens, dishes - well you get the picture. Well I had a collection of ducks also. Large, small, made of wood, glass, cast iron (small one), etc. Mine were all the kind that just sat around and collected dust. I don't remember how many I had, but quiet a few. Then I started giving them away, sold some in yardsales, etc. I ended up with these three left. I have no clue why I kept these, but they have resided in my china cabinet for years. Oh I dust them , think "I should get rid of these", then stick them back in the cabinet. Meet the last of my collection from the "Duck Era" of the 80's! If I remember correctly, I bought these 3 at the flea market.

Outdoor Wednesday

Wednesday is time for "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ A Southern Daydreamer http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Thank you Susan for once again hosting this weekly event. Thought I would share some pictures I took at a local arts and craft fair a week ago last Friday. I had forgotten about it being that particular weekend and spotted it on my way back from another place. Most of the pictures I took that day were not very good - think I broke a record that particular day for taking "bad" pictures. Many were blurred, at an angle, etc., so ended up doing a lot of deleting.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Many extremely talented artists there selling their beautiful creations made from wood, pottery, handmade jewelry, quilting, tatting - I could go on and on.

Lots of places to buy something to eat.
Photobucket
Yep ! You read that right ! :-D
Photobucket
One long tent in particular got my attention - the "Culinary" tent. :) After sampling some soups and dips , I made a few purchases there - 3 different flavored pastas, 2 different dip mixes, and a bean soup mix that I am really anxious to try. The only problem with that is, it makes a gallon of soup, so need to make it when having company or be prepared to freeze some. Package says add ham, but the person handing out samples said you could add canned chicken (bet rotisserie chicken would be good), or smoked sausage. Will let you know how they all turn out.
When I left the house, I did not know I would be going and did not have on appropriate shoes - big mistake!!!
Anyway, that is my contribution to "Outdoor Wednesday". Please visit Susan and the other participants to see what they have to share this week.
Hope you are having a great week!

Show and Tell Friday

It has been quiet some time since I participated in "Show and Tell Friday", so thought I would join in this week. "Show and Tell Friday" is now hosted by Cindy @ My Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/. It was previously hosted by Kelli @ There is No Place Like Home http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/.

THE UNINTENTIONAL BEAR COLLECTION: Many years ago, I bought this Steiff Bear at a carport sale for $2, and was thrilled with my bargain - it still even had the metal tag in it's ear.

Photobucket

Well, apparently my children thought that meant I was going to collect bears. That was not exactly what I had in mind, but they started giving me bears for Christmas and Mother's Day. and this is the collection I ended up with.
Photobucket

Photobucket

I finally told them I loved the bears and appreciate them, but please don't give me any more as I don't have a good place to display them. I also have an "unintentional doll collection", but will save that for another time. This is my contribution to "Show and Tell Friday", and hope you enjoyed seeing my "unintentional bear collection". If you have not already, visit Cindy @ My Romantic Home to see what she and the other participants have to share. Thank you Cindy for hosting this fun event.
Have a great weekend.

Outdoor Wednesday

Thought I would join in on "Outdoor Wednesday" hosted by Susan @ http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. Thank you Susan for hosting this weekly event. I think it has been a while since I posted on this weekly party. My flowers are doing their "last hurrah" for the Summer. They really look sorta sad in these pictures I took a couple of days ago. Not a lot of blooms left. Photobucket I have 5 of these large ferns and they seem to be holding their own and still look good at this point.

Photobucket

The wax begonias will last longer - They usually hold out until the first frost. Geraniums have a few more blooms left.

Photobucket

More begonias. I took this picture several days ago right after it had rained and they look pretty much the same today - rain and all.

Met. Monday

It is a cool and rainey day, so a good day to stay in and "piddle". Finished up a little project for my 1/2 bath, made some homemade pimento cheese, played on the computer and finished some cleaning that I started Friday morning before I decide to go "play" for the rest of the day.
Time for Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/. Thank you Susan for hosting this fun weekly event. First: I want to ask - Do you know how hard it is to photograph a tiny 1/2 bath !?!? As some of you may remember I started on a 1/2 bath project a while back - in August I think. Before:
Photobucket Then I did this:Photobucket
Since then I spray painted one of the fenials I got at HL on sale and put it in the opposite corner.

Photobucket

I could not find what I wanted to add with the candle holder and wall piece with the keys - Gotta be odd numbers you know. :-) So spray painted an urn that I already had, added a little raindeer moss, a spray painted white pumpkin with an added rubon and Wa La!

Photobucket

I will replace the pumpkin with something in a cranberry or pomagranate color after Thansgiving.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

I found the rug at TJ Max yesterday, but may take it back. I like the rug - it is a cream colored, with a black and tan design on it, but not sure it is big enough.

Photobucket

Sorry for the blurred picture, but this is the picture I pulled the pomegranate color from.
Photobucket
While at TJ Max, I looked for a couple of prettier hand towels and black and white soap dispenser, but they did not have what I wanted. Will check around at other places when get a chance. Other than that -
I am calling this project done!!! I had hoped to get the flooring replaced before the Holidays, but not sure that will happen. A friend just got an estimate to have her 1/2 bath flooring replaced (same size as mine), and it seems that the better known places have what they call a set "small project" fee. In other words: They may only charge so much per square foot labor, but they also have a minimum labor charge - They are gonna get you one way or the other!!! Got to re-think the situation.
This is my contribution to Met. Monday. If you have not already, go over to visit Susan to see what she and the other participants have to share.
Have a great week.
