Show and Tell Friday

It has been quiet some time since I participated in "Show and Tell Friday", so thought I would join in this week. "Show and Tell Friday" is now hosted by Cindy @ My Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/. It was previously hosted by Kelli @ There is No Place Like Home http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/.

THE UNINTENTIONAL BEAR COLLECTION: Many years ago, I bought this Steiff Bear at a carport sale for $2, and was thrilled with my bargain - it still even had the metal tag in it's ear.

Well, apparently my children thought that meant I was going to collect bears. That was not exactly what I had in mind, but they started giving me bears for Christmas and Mother's Day. and this is the collection I ended up with.

I finally told them I loved the bears and appreciate them, but please don't give me any more as I don't have a good place to display them. I also have an "unintentional doll collection", but will save that for another time. This is my contribution to "Show and Tell Friday", and hope you enjoyed seeing my "unintentional bear collection". If you have not already, visit Cindy @ My Romantic Home to see what she and the other participants have to share. Thank you Cindy for hosting this fun event.
Have a great weekend.
Glenda

A Steiff Bear for $2...WOW! I think it's so cute that your kids bought you more! It reminds me of when I was little. I knew my mom liked dishes so when I saw someone selling dishes at a garage sale down the street I ran home and asked my mom for money. I ran back and bought her a bunch of plates. We still laugh about it because they were really awful plates! I just thought she liked any plates with flowers on them, I had no idea they weren't good ones.

Thanks for joining in on Show and Tell.

I love the little bear with the hat and pin on her neck. So cute. My mom collected anything with little mice. One year everyone bought her something with mice, and she said if I get one more mouse, I am going to scream!! lol

I began collecting teapots years ago and after I began I received so many teapots. I still love them and change them out for the seasons.

Your bears are sweet! I ended up with a unplanned collection too and now just get them all out at Christmas. They stay packed away the rest of the year so we are always happy to see them when they are out.

That is sort of how I became a bear collector but my collection just kept on growing. Twice I have donated some of the less valuable ones to charity. I've lost count of how many I have, now.
Thanks for sharing. You really got a "bargain" with the first one. I like the last one in the dress. She is so vintage.

My goodness, Glenda that Steiff bear is a treasure especially with the tag in his ear.
I have designed and made collectible teddy bears for over 20 years with my company Just Wee Bears......and it all started with an antique Steiff that I saw at an antique show!

I forgot to mention that I LOVE your header with the squash and pumpkins in the apothecary jar.

I love your story about unintentional collections! Don't we all have at least one of those? Still, it's so sweet that people are paying attention to what you purchase and think of you when they see something similar. The bears are darling.

Glenda, I love your e bears. My son, who is 8 (almost 9!) still collects bears. I have my two bears that I had since I was three. Maggie and Herkey. Maggie is bald, worn by many years of Love. Today she resides in my closet in my bedroom. Close enough to still bring me comfort, but out of the way where she will not become destroyed.
Thanks for dropping by today to visit. I always enjoy having you stop by!
Have a great weekend. We are expecting rain....again!
HUGS!

The last bear is my favorite! I love your collection! For my birthday this year my mother and daughters made me a Build-A-Bear. She's soft and tan and they dabbed vanilla oil on her. I love her... she sits on my nightstand. Thank you for sharing!

Well, lots of good deeds and intentions in life are, in fact, "unintentional!" Thanks for showing us your sweet bears. (My kids thought the same of me, and I had to stop it too!) My goodness, you run out of room fast!

I love it!!! And that Steiff bear was a steal. I got my one & only Steiff in Germany. I just need to find where I've hidden it. I hope it wasn't in the box of dolls that I gave away. Now that would be unintentional.

It is funny with the children - as soon as you buy something you like the kids think you have started a collection!!! I would love to see your unintentional doll collection though.

I have an award for you over on my blog.
