Show and Tell Friday

Friday and it is another gray, wet, chilly day here. :( You would think since the weather has been bad for so long, I would be caught up on everything that needs to be done in the house. Nope - that is not happening. If anything, I think it just gives me more time to sit around and think of more things that need to be done. I need some sunshine!!
I almost forgot - being Friday, it is time for "Show and Tell Friday" hosted by Cindy @ Romantic Home http://romantichome.blogspot.com/ Thanks you Cindy for hosting this fun event.

Remember in the 80's, when it seemed like everone was crazy over ducks. Ducks were everywhere - on wallpaper (especially border), linens, dishes - well you get the picture. Well I had a collection of ducks also. Large, small, made of wood, glass, cast iron (small one), etc. Mine were all the kind that just sat around and collected dust. I don't remember how many I had, but quiet a few. Then I started giving them away, sold some in yardsales, etc. I ended up with these three left. I have no clue why I kept these, but they have resided in my china cabinet for years. Oh I dust them , think "I should get rid of these", then stick them back in the cabinet. Meet the last of my collection from the "Duck Era" of the 80's! If I remember correctly, I bought these 3 at the flea market.

These three are definately keepers. I especially love the one with the green head. I do remember the duck era, but these are timeless. Thank you for the ducky little post.

I always do things just a bit differently so I did geese in the 80's. LOL

You were smarter than I....at least ducks have a timeless appeal.

Now those ducks are beautiful. I would keep them, for sure. Remember the blue and a mauve that accompanied the duck era?

Yes, these actually are beautiful ducks and would look so nice as part of autumn decor. (I was picturing the white ducks or geese that had blue bows around their necks.) These are lovely and I would have kept them too.

Thanks for sharing! And thanks for stopping by my kitchen table, too.

God bless,
Mrs.T

I know why you've kept them all these years, they're going to come back around again and be all the rage. Things have a way of doing that. I love the wood tones of the baby one - soo sweet.I just became a follower so that you and I can become fast friends!

Thanks for visiting today!

I remember the duck craziness of the 80's. At one time I had a set of dishes that had ducks on them...I know...what was I thinking? lol. Those ducks are not the cutsie ducks of then, but beautiful, classy ducks that withstand the trends.

My dad used to have a collection of ducks like those. I just loved them.

Hi Glenda...

Thank you for sharing your collection with us today! Also wanted to thank you for stopping by and leaving me such a sweet note about my autumn living room...sure do appreciate it, my friend!

Warmest wishes,

They are very cute and nice ! especially because they are made out of wood, maybe that's why you don't got rid of them yet. Imagine, I have a cat collection of over 450 cats, but I don't want to get rid of them, lol !

Yes, I remember the era of the ducks. I was in college for much of that time, and ducks were associated with the "preps."

Glenda, these are beauties. Definetly keepers. Isn't it funny how our collections take over and change over the years. I've weeded out several of mine over the past few years, and have a few more boxed and ready to go for the annual garage sale in April. Time to purge a few things around here. I hope you're having a super w/k.

Oh I think this trio of waterfowl belong in your cabinet... they are so cute!

Love your header picture; are those real little gourds in the glass jar? They are so nice looking!

And you know what? If you hang onto those ducks long enough, they'll be back in style!

Definately keepers, went through a duck phase myself and kept a set of fabric painted stuffed birds, now no matter where I travel in the world, folks know I have set up house when the ducks have settled, (currently on top of the tv cabinet).
