A Small Change

I did a post a while back about this pretty little box I got at HL for 90% off - paid $2.
I decided this shelf above the TV needed a change from the rustic urn and pear. Actually probably should have left it like this til after Fall. I can't put a lot on the shelf, as I am not interested in it all crashing down on the back of the TV, as buying a new one is not on my shopping list these days.

Anyway, one afternoon when the squirrels were not dining in the hickory nut tree that hangs over my courtyard (and dropping hickory nuts and/or shells), I gave the urn a new coat of paint.
Replaced the battery operated green candle with a regular white one. Hope to find a battery operated white one before the holidays. Have seen ivory, but not white.
I am trying to make small changes to get a different look without adding more clutter.
I am linking up with Marty @ "Table Top Tuesday" http://astrollthrulife.blogspot.com/
If you have not already, be sure and go by to see what Marty and the other participants have to share.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

It looks great, Glenda! I find myself liking uncluttered surfaces more and more. There's something soothing in simplicity, isn't there? Hickory trees and the mess they create (with help from the squirrels) -- not so soothing!

Hope you have a nice weekend.

I like the new look!
I have seen ivory battery candles, too, and colors, but not white. Do you think the white would end up looking ivory anyway, when the little light was on?
Ivory may work as well. Just a thought.

And as for Hobby Lobby - I got so jealous of people who can shop there that I looked up the nearest one to me and it's in flipping Pennsylvania! Good grief.

Glenda, wow! You got that box for $2??? That was a deal! I really it on your shelf with your urn and picture. I need to get my spray paint out and attack a pair of chairs that are begging to be cute. Seeing your transformed urn has nspired me to do it!

XO,

Sheila :-)

P.S. I think I have a little pear similar to the one you have in that first shot. Is yours wooden? Mine is. I love it.

The simple changes you've made look great. Amazing what a little paint can do to perk up our areas in our homes. I need to spend some time doing that myself, but now with the cool weather, it may wait for Spring.
Thanks for your frequent visits to my blog and your ever thoughtful comments. :)
